Sprained MCL for Middleton is what Budenholzer said is the preliminary diagnosis. We can steal this damn series.

I think its a decent chance of happening. Before the series I figured 1% chance

I'd say the chance right now is about 20%. Reminds me of the very last time the Bulls were in a playoff series, when they won both the first 2 games in Boston before getting blown out in game 3 and not winning again.

This isn't really going to be a competitive series until the Bulls actually lead in it.

If the Bulls can shut down the Bucks' fringe/replacement level players, like Matthews, they've a chance. Giannis is going get his and that's OK, just don't let the other guys beat you, take away Giannis' options, make him beat you by himself.

that's a terrible comparison. the 2-0 start and the subsequent falling off a cliff was literally because (playoff) rondo was there for 2 games and then broke his thumb.

if anything, the bucks are the ones about to deal with a significant loss in middleton (and maybe portis too).

Plus that Bulls team pretty much sucked outside of the 3 alphas. Absolutely no depth. Paul horsefeathering Zipser was getting crunch time minutes in those games.

I think its closer to the 09 Celtics series where the Celtics were expected to walk all over the Bulls even though KG was out. But the Bulls had some great individual players and played hard causing it to ultimately be a very closely contested series. Without Middleton we went from 0 chance of winning to some chance. I think 20% sounds about right.

i'd probably put it higher

what the bulls did in game 2 was not that different from what they did in game 1, except they shot like garbage in game 1 and were still in it.

obviously, their defense has to keep disrupting them the way they have. but it's 2 games now that they've done that, and on the road. it's not just a one game fluke.

these first two games have been highly competitive and both could've gone either way. the bulls have HCA now. the bucks are likely losing an all star (or, otherwise, he's hobbled). it's higher than 20%.

that said, watch them get blown out in the next 3 now entirely and only because i said all this.

my guess is they lose in 6 but that is partly just a defense mechanism lol

FWIW, the Bulls are currently +220 for the series and the Bucks are -270 on FanDuel.

From what I heard Joe Ostrowski say on the radio a little while ago, 24 hours ago the Bucks were -3500. That means you had to bet $3500 on them to win $100, for the non-degenerates.

+220 reflects approximately a 31-32% win expectancy. -270 reflects about a 72-73% win expectancy.

This is why i gave the bulls no better than a 20% chance. The bucks even without Middleton are better and have the best player in the series.

The Bulls forgot how to play defense in the last two days. Also shooting poorly and Grayson Allen, Bobby Portis, and Brook horsefeathering Lopez acting like All-Stars.

They are going after Zach on defense as much as possible. Has led to about 10 wide open 3s.

Oh you sweet summer child... we were always gonna lose this series. Only possible way we win is if Giannis gets hurt.

We all knew this is exactly how this series would play out. You don’t play like the 3rd worst team in the NBA for the last 2 months and then expect to be competitive with the defending champs. Bucks shot terrible in game 1 and missed a ton of FTs in game 2 while guarding DeRozan straight up. Once they got their shooting stroke and made simple adjustments things went back to normal

at least the middleton injury means people won't whine about lonzo's absence being responsible for this disaster. hopefully the FO doesn't use it as an excuse either. we need big changes.
