Bulls '21-'22 Season Thread

If someone told me at the start of the season that the Bulls would be playing only these players in a game in Early February I'd guess the season was a wash and we had a sell-off at the deadline:

If anything, the Bulls are doing better defensively than yesterday, but can't hit anything from distance, and OKC has made some silly shots. That's the only reason this game is close right now.

I'm surprised to read that Jordan never had a 6 game stretch of 35+ and at least 50% FG

 

DeMar is on an unbelievable roll right now. Literally feels like we always have a chance to pull the tough games out simply because of his ability to take over a game at any time. Like I started to sweat it in the 3rd but then he just put his foot down and destroyed them.

Well I was wrong about the Bulls attractiveness in the buyout market and worse yet I continually used Thompson as a guy who would be a great fit but would not sign with the Bulls. Glad to be wrong.

 

What does Thompson have left? In his prime he was a great rebounder and solid defensive player

Watched a little bit of it. Was kind of fun actually seeing some competitive play and defense in an all star format. Don’t feel that way anymore. Don’t even run on Sunday, Demar. And let’s move to a skills competition only type of format in the future.

Interesting that the Bulls used their bi-annual exemption to sign Thompson (gives him about 225k more and possibly the reason he chose the Bulls). In the offseason that would have been worth $4m....IF the Bulls actually decided to go over the luxury tax. Either the Bulls thought they had to have him so made an aggressive move that will hurt them in the offseason, or they do not anticipate being able to use that BAE this offseason as it would put us over the luxury tax. Neither option is great but hoping its the former.

Even considering he was a buyout guy I'm pretty excited about the TT pickup. Dude is large and has always been kind of a dick on the court, which are two things I think this Bulls team severely needs. He may not be a great rim protector but he's big and can bang for rebounds.

 

Great job AKME, I'm cool with whatever financials needed to happen.

Tristan looked really solid, Ayo locked down Trae Young again (14 points on 3-17 shooting!) and DeMar was DeMar at the end.

 

Next 5 games are extremely difficult so glad to get this W tonight
