How do we feel now about the deadline with less than 24 hours left? I'm starting to think we don't do anything, or its very minor like a back of the bench big to compete with Tony Bradley for being active on gameday. AKME is typically tight lipped so it probably plays into the lack of rumors surrounding them but it also seems like a lot of the obvious names have either been traded or seem to be off the market now.

I'm fine with not making a panic move to hurt us long term, but I hope we're not just relying on making our improvements in the buy out market as those type of players haven't really favored Chicago in the past even when we've been good. Could definitely land someone solid like Millsap but there's also a chance we come up empty. With still another ~5-6 weeks before we get any guys back, I'm concerned that doing nothing will put us in real danger of ending up in a play-in spot. If that's the price we pay to stay on whatever long term plan AK has, so be it. But the restless impulsive fan in me would feel disappointed

Definitely a tough position for AKME to be in. The way that I see it is they're gonna wait for the buyouts. I think you have a team that bigs would be thrilled to play with. They're gonna get plenty of run, they're not gonna have much pressure on them because of our big 3, and it's a team that was largely unfamiliar with each other before this year and has quickly gelled. I think that plays to our favor because it's not really a hard nut to crack. I dunno, maybe that doesn't matter but it could. It's a very selfless team. With the new FO there's a renewed energy and once our injured players come back they will be a real contender.

From the sound of it, we will not be able to get Thad back, because of the 1-year rule, which is a shame. He'd be a perfect fit. Milsap should be interested and there's a handful of intriguing players that could be in play. I kind of expected us to go this route, as daring as it is. It's been a really fun season, despite all the tribulations they've faced. They deserve a playoff spot and I think they'll get one in the top 6.

Pretty much every name I've seen linked to the bulls has been eliminated as an option over the last couple of days. Even Millsap who was a buyout candidate went to Philly in the Harden trade, so now unlikely to be bought out.

Previously, I was for adding front court depth and now I'm more for keeping the core, add this off-season, and see what you have with everyone healthy.

we've been so aggressive over the last 2 seasons, and now we're relaying on buyouts to fix a glaring weakness?

It's funny...we've seen 4 player acquisition periods from AKME. In 2 of them they did absolutely nothing and the other 2 they went balls to the wall lol. Very all or nothing FO.

I think we're also all assuming that buyout guys will definitely come here. Players motivations for signing with teams after being waived can vary wildly. Take Tristan Thompson for example. Would be a solid candidate. But his priorities are said to be 1) Winning another championship, 2) playing in an enjoyable market before he retires. For both of those qualifications the Bulls would be like 7th in the pecking order. Our biggest advantage is we have a role and minutes to give a guy but that isn't always the biggest priority for guys who are just going to be FA in a couple months anyways.

Tough pill to swallow even though it was what I expected. If they tumble after the ASB the fan base is going to be on fire. Every team in the hunt upgraded except for us. And Williams is going to be such a thorn in my side if he doesn't show significant hunger and improved sense of urgency. Looked like a silly pick and now they're really sticking to their guns with him.

I don't feel he's that special, despite how young he is. But I could certainly prove to be wrong on that.

IDK, Chicago has to be top 3 in number of hoes for him to cheat on Khloe Kardashian with.

The good news is that I don't really think this team is going to ever have problems scoring. They get lots of quality looks and they're not super 3 point heavy. If we can get some of the guys back with some ramp up period before the playoffs I think the defense can get closer to being a top 10 D going into the playoffs.

We just need to replace some of those TBJ, Thomas, Bradley, minutes with real players...

Lets take a look at the post ASB schedule

Atlanta

Memphis

@ Miami

@ Atlanta

Milwaukee

@ Philadelphia

@ Detroit

Cleveland

At that point the Bulls should be pretty close to getting some guys back but man that may be a brutal stretch

I'm worried about getting to the point of players coming back, but now with burnt out superstars (LaVine, DeRozan) and rust with the guys getting back into the swing of things. Teams around the top of the conference with the Bulls can more afford to fall to a 5 or 6 seed because they are good and playoff tested.

With the emergence of Boston and Toronto (and BKN getting better for the regular season), I've accepted that we'll probably be in the play-in.

The only thing I wasn’t sold on was his three point shooting, which I thought would be passable but has exceeded my expectations. The rest was there—defense, midrange, driving ability, vision, IQ. How he fell to 38 astounded me at the time and even more so now.

did Illinois fans know/think ayo would be this good?

I thought he would be a solid player, the type that always sticks around, but is probably never more than a 3rd guard on a good team. But he has really taken off playing with such good teammates.

DJJ questionable for tonight. That’s encouraging for what was supposed to be a longer timeframe.

Edit: Check that… he IS available tonight!!

Awesome. I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that he may be able to be back early because the fracture was on his non shooting hand. Sounds like that's the case.

Edit: Of course Zach and Javonte are both questionable. Can't have nice things lol

I expect Caruso back tomorrow too!
