Apparently the Bulls and Bucks have offers on the table for Schroder.

Less substantiated rumor branching off of the legit rumor:

Why would we trade Coby for him? What’s the upside to that move?

Just looking at overall value Schroder is a clear better player. Not sure if he’s a better for the Bulls and what they need. He’s only under contract for this season too vs. Coby who can come back next year or be used in an offseason trade.

What would it take to get Sabonis? Coby and Williams and more?

I think definitely Coby and PWill would have to go into the trade given that the Pacers are starting a gut rebuild and the Bulls are not rich on 1st rounders

Maybe Coby, Williams, Troy Brown and the Blazers 1st for Sabonis and Justin Holiday? Holiday is probably better fit for this year's Bulls, though Brown is an expiring and Holiday is signed for another year. You could cut the Troy Brown/Holiday part off and the trade still works.

Lonzo/Ayo

DeRozan/Caruso

Lavine/DJJ/Holiday

Sabonis/Javonte Green/Cook

Vucevic/Bradley

Hill and Thomas are insactives

I'm terrible at this stuff so this is probably laughable.

The other question is fit. Sabonis interior defense is pretty poor for a big (opponents shooting almost 60% in the paint against him this year).

Bulls have enough scoring when Zach/Coby are healthy. They need interior defense to deal with Giannis, Embiid, Durant and others.

Turner is a much better fit.

Considering the state of our team and Embiid basically doing anything he wanted with ease I was pretty impressed with tonight's effort. We even closed the game to 100-96 at one point immediately after they had almost built a 20 pt lead.

We’re missing Lonzo Ball, one of the best point guards in the league; Alex Caruso, one of the best defenders in this league; Patrick Williams, one of the young stars in this league,” DeRozan said Sunday. “We haven’t had those guys. And we have them, and they’ll be back. We don’t need to worry or stress about having nobody else.

“Those three right there, I guarantee every team in this NBA wish they had those three guys. We’re going to get those back and we’ll be fine.”

I largely agree with DeRozan and think standing pat is the way to go before the trade deadline. I don't know what the ceiling is for Patrick Williams, but he is our youngest player w/ the potential to become an All-Star type player. I'm not sure how likely it is he gets there, but I would hate trading him for a Sabonis/J. Grant. I think those additions would do very little towards topping Miami/Brooklyn/Milwaukee/Philadelphia in the playoffs...

Just making the playoffs and possibly getting to the 2nd-round would be a huge accomplishment. I think the offseason is a better time to guage trade interest and try to upgrade the team.

We will be able to add some quality bigs once buyouts start happening, and I'm hoping for a Thaddeus Young reunion and think he would be a great fit on this team.

the defense is making me very distraught

I was pretty pessimistic about the defense when Caruso went down but they are worse than I thought they’d be. Some of it is fatigue I’m sure but they are likely a bottom 5 defense with the current healthy roster

This sucks for 3 reasons:

1. Larry Nance would have been a really nice fit on the Bulls and was someone I was targeting (along with Covington who was traded earlier)

2. In the short term the Blazers suck and the FRP won't convey making it less valuable as a trade piece. BUT....

3. One of the things that made me feel comfortable about keeping LaVine was that there were not a ton of teams who were projected to have the flexibility to add the contract LaVine is seeking. Of course any team can get any player these days with cap manuvering and S+T, but it would be difficult for most teams to swing it. Now Portland should be considered a serious threat IF they think a LaVine/Lillard pairing is enticing as they can sign him outright, or take his contract in a S+T with the Bulls if he is set on coming here. I'm not convinced they think that's the case but if they do, could be trouble. I do think that LaVine is the Bulls to keep if they offer him a max deal, but its still a threat. Don't forget LaVine is from the PNW and he still lives there at least part of the time in the offseason.

So LaVine can now push for the Super Max, and the Bulls need to feel more compelled to make moves this trade deadline to ensure the Bulls don't slip to a play-in spot and miss the playoffs altogether.

I think Kelly Olynik would be a decent, low level/cost move for the Bulls if they aren’t going to go and trade and major assets. Probably could get him for a extremely protected pick or swap and some roster filler for contract match.

I also don’t mind the Blazers flipping CJ for Hart, I think Hart has another level and honestly think he might be the better bet/player over the next 5 years or so taking contracts in to account.
