No rooting interest tonight, but it would be cool if Rizzo or Schwarber did something.

On that topic, not that this is a surprise really, but they are both batting leadoff, and it's the first time two players who were teammates the year before are opposing each other as leadoff hitters on different teams in a playoff game.

I love that they're doing a Statcast broadcast for this.

Honestly I think more events should have more alternate broadcasts. Alternate languages (and not just radio over the English broadcast, but like full productions), Nickelodeon broadcasts, do it all.

Rizzo and Schwarber both homering in the first game all but confirms that these players will play out in the most painful way possible. Something like Lester pitching a CG shutout in game 7 of the World Series with Kimbrel giving up the game losing HR

What a horrendous send

If this score holds, that might be the story of the game. Took the Yankees right out of the inning.

The Fenway fans chanting Bobby freaking Dalbec’s name at the plate above anyone else is the most Boston sports fan thing ever.

hard to think of a better way to start the playoffs than the yankees and cardinals getting immediately eliminated. hopefully that’s how it pans out.

The Yankees aren’t even in my top 4 most hated teams in the playoffs

Hate has no home here, I just love to see them lose.

walking around the city after a new york sports team loses a playoff series is my personal fountain of youth.

If the Cardnials and their devil magic knock off a 106 win Dodger team, this will be the end of the current playoff format as we know it. It might be anyway after the CBA.

I have future bets on the Astros 25-1 to win the WS and Braves 14-1 so hopefully one of them wins. Otherwise, Tampa would be fine.

I hate to say it but the Cards straight up is a solid bet right now.

Its funny knowing that there are adults old enough to drink that know nothing else than the Red Sox dominating the Yankees. How much the rivalry has flipped from October 2004 to now is crazy. The Red Sox completely own the rivalry now in terms of events over the last 17 years.

It's what I was hoping the Cubs were on the verge of doing after the NLDS win over the Cardinals but doesn't seem to be trending in that direction.

Tonight’s game for me is really a win/win. While I get the whole devil magic winning thing with the Cards, I would still find some gratification in knocking out the mighty Dodgers. That said, the Dodgers knocking them out would also be delightful. Like Jersey said, I will “love” the fact that one of these teams is one and done.

"closed the gap", man the yankees last world series win was in 2009. gap has been gone for a long time.
