Things are starting to settle down in the 2021 season:

The NFC West is stacked, the NFC North is like net -99 points scored on the season. The NFC South might have 3 contenders and the NFC East is ass again. I don't really care about the AFC, but the potential for an Urban Meyer early exit is intriguing, along with Pittsburgh potentially taking a big old dump. There are enough bad teams out there that the Giants can't be too confident in their extra 1st round pick next year, but the Bears are walking a tight rope between taking some baby steps forward and falling off a cliff.

I mean, who could have seen this Urban Meyer hire not working out and being a disaster in the short term? Sometimes you just get bad breaks.

I'm sure it's because of the video, but I watched the game Thursday. JAX played better on the road against CIN. But more than once I looked at Meyer on the sidelines and thought to myself that he looked really stressed. I chalked it up to me probably misinterpreting things.

But it might be that there's two things happening. The vid, and then just the fact that he's not enjoying himself in the NFL. Maybe he's thinking he made a mistake here. I don't know. Obviously JAX isn't going to suddenly become a playoff team if they fire him mid-season. But if your head coach is hating life it's not good for anyone in the organization.

I have high hopes that PIT sucks because I would love seeing that. I would take every opportunity to see them suck on TV and enjoy myself thoroughly. I would crack open a few extra beers, and maybe even call my brother-in-law to experience his weeping and gnashing of teeth as I bask in my shameless hatred of all things Steelers.

Even had the specific bar/woman incident not happened, it was really bad form for him to NOT take the trip back with the team. I know he has family in Ohio, but jesus h christ, fly them to Jacksonville if you need to celebrate or hang out or whatever. Whole thing came off as selfish and tone deaf

Have you been to Jacksonville?

It's a Thursday night game so to me him staying back an extra day or two isn't an issue. It's what he was doing that is the problem.

He's the head freaking coach. It's absolutely a problem for him to peace out on the team.

It's a horsefeathering plane ride. The players are off for days after a Thursday game.

Well, it happens rarely enough (if ever) to garner criticism. If this happened all the time after Thursday games, there wouldn't be a stink about it

If the coach of a winning team did it and wasn't caught on video messing with a woman that wasn't his wife we wouldn't even know about it.

Side note, I hated Roy Wood Jr and didn't think he was funny for the longest time. But like as of a year ago or so, he's one of the funnier comedians to me now.

And yet a coach of a losing team did bail on his team after the game to go try and hook up in public, and that's a ridiculous move.

I'm not defending his actions in the bar. I think he's a piece of horsefeathers human being. I just think the outrage over him not flying back on the team plane after a Thursday night game is dumb.

It's not dumb if that's what every head coach does, and your team sucks at that.

Doesn't matter if we know about it. A new coach who has already made a series of questionable decisions and is trying to get the team to be fully 100% committed and bought in is not flying back on the team plane with the players after a tough loss? Seems like strange behavior. But I've never been on a professional football team so I could be way off. The optics just seem strange

I've seen a few former players say that him not traveling with the team was a big deal and likely the biggest issue for the players.

Jaylon Smith doesn’t need to be a star for GB. He just needs to be better than Oren Burks and Tyler Summers, an almost certainty, to improve the Packers defense.
