No the game hasnt started yet, its a 9:10 game just felt like kicking this off to point out the cringe inducing pitching matchups this weekend:

Thursday: Davies vs. Buehler

Friday: sucky guy that looks like Jake vs. Tony Gonsolin (should be a bullpen game for them)

Saturday: Mills vs. Urias

Sunday: Adbert vs. Kershaw

Actually wasn't as bad as I thought, but any 4 game series on the road against the defending mickey mouse champions without Hendricks starting is going to look rough going into it.

Meanwhile the Brewers jump into a home series against the Rockies who are on pace for a historically bad road record (6-28 so far).

If there was ever a time for the Brewers to get some distance on the Cubs its these next 10 days or so with the Cubs starting a 10 game road trip against the Dodgers, Brewers and Reds while the Brewers play vs. Colorado, vs. Cubs and at Pittsburgh.

Honestly if the Cubs are within 2-3 games of first by the end of this 10 game stretch id be thrilled.

totally unfair we have to play the brewers while they play the cubs . . .

Ricketts has had this stretch of the schedule circled for weeks now. Just so pumped to use a 2-8 stretch as an excuse to go into sell mode.

Sure would be nice to have a corner outfielder averaging a dong a game over the last couple weeks. Or a shutdown starter.

I'm so tired of seeing Sogard on this team, much less in the starting lineup. I'm sure he'll go 1-4, blooping a single over the 2nd baseman's head, and Ross will gain more appreciation for his ability to 'hang in' and provide a 'quality AB'. I'd rather see my grandma at the plate, and she's dead.

Can't afford to force Davies to get extra outs against this lineup. That 2-2 pitch to Muncy hit the zone, the spot, and was received well. Zero excuse to miss that one

Why are they doing substance checks after the pitcher completes the inning? Wouldn't it make more sense to do it before he takes the mound?

Think that would go against their other project of speeding the game up. Still seems like a very dumb approach. With such a harsh penalty, you can afford to make the actual checks pretty rare. Check one or two starters a night across the whole league, keep it random and unpredictable, should work just as well. All of this is just performance theatre.

Really hope the Cubs failing to score with the bases loaded and 0 outs with our 2-3-4 hitters due up doesn’t come back to bite us

I want to love Sutcliffe. Met him when I was 7 and he was so kind to me. Alas, he's an abject moron.

I think it was against the Dodgers earlier in year - later innings - Cubs on 2nd (tying run) and 3rd - 2 outs - Sutcliff says they should walk the batter to get to Contreras who's looked lost for days. JD and Booger are all over him - no way are the Dodgers putting the winning run on 1st. Pitching coach comes out - they walk the batter and Contreras pops up or strikes out or whatever. I love JD, and Booger is growing on me - plus he always looks like he's just rolled out of bed - but I have no problem with a little goofball in the booth on occasion and I love how he rides Booger. (Plus there's always a chance he shows up wasted)
