OK, so I guess I'm just doing this? Less than 18 hours until first pitch and no thread so I'm just doing this.

Baseball's back and the Cubs open up against the worst team in the division and possibly in the league. The last time Kyle Hendricks pitched on opening day he tossed a shutout. That would be cool to see again, and probably will be common against these Pirates.

Win!

I feel like this core has one last blaze of glory in it.

A flaming car careening off of a cliff is technically a type of blaze of glory.

I see Kyle has moved his daily optimism from the Covid thread to here. I'll take it where I can get it I guess.

Might as well start out hot, and couldn't ask for a better way to do that than the Pirates at home, ignoring my Pirates over 58.5 bet. Take 4 or 5 from them the next couple weeks, split with the Brewers, and see what happens from there.

My give a horsefeathers level has never been lower for Opening Day. That saddens me. Not even getting the Extra Innings package this year.

I remember when I couldnt sleep the night before opening day. Now I'm learning its opening day an hour after I wake up. Will be great to see people in Wrigley. Go Cubs

The lineup today actually horsefeathers pretty hard

I'm curious how much the order evolves over the course of the season, but yeah that's our best 8 and outside of some matchup related-tweaks I'd anticipate it being the best 8 in October. And like you say, I'll definitely take my chances with that group.

Look, the Cubs as an organization suck even more than your typical sports franchise. And yeah, they'll probably be on the outside looking in at the end of the year. But I'm excited to watch baseball again, if only for a week or two. Can't wait to hear whatever crowd is there react to a 300 foot flyball as if it's headed for Waveland.
