Just because he’s 7’ doesn’t mean he should be a center in today’s game. He’s not built like a traditional center by any stretch of the imagination. Guys like Dirk & KD have zero problems shooting at high %’s despite being 7’ tall.

Except he can’t shoot. 8 years in the league and he’s a career 28.7% shooter with a best season of 30.7%. Stop trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Accentuate what you can do a d stop trying to do what it’s clear you can’t. He doesn’t need to be a traditional center but he needs to cut out the 3’s.

Lopez is an idiot, Durant is a cold blooded killer.

Yeah, the lack of situational awareness on that possession was nuts.

Also, Jrue needs to stop shooting. You’re 5-23. It’s not your night, dude.

No matter who makes the Finals it’s going to be a weird matchup. Sixers have the last title in 1983. Plus it’s not like any of these teams even usually make the conference finals.

Is that a record for a 71 FTA sample size? I mean thats pretty hard to wrap the head around.

Ben Wallace was slightly worse over an entire season. That Simmons stretch is 33.8%. Wallace was 80-238 for 33.6% in 2000-2001.

Holy horsefeathers thats unspeakably awful. I knew he was bad but I didn't realize he was barely over 40% for his career.

Trae Young is a lot of fun to watch.

I also get the feeling that sad Sixer fan is about to be the new meme.

Ben Simmons shot attempts by game: 7, 3, 11, 10, 4, 6, 4.

I know he’s not a 15 shot a game guy but that’s embarrassing. They’re not going to foul you the whole game and if they do, fine because then five guys will foul out.

Made the mistake of drafting him in fantasy a couple years ago and it was nice how he filled up the rest of the stat sheet, but infuriating to watch how freaking much he defers and especially cowers in the final quarter. And this dude is owed, what, 140-150m over the next 4 years? Yeeeeesh.

Lol Simmons took 3 shots total in the 4th quarter this series.

Oof Embiid throwing him under the bus postgame:

For those that didn’t watch, Sixers were down 2 late, Simmons had an uncontested layup/dunk at the rim but instead inexplicably passed it to Thybulle who was fouled and only made 1 of 2.

Even that undersells it. Trae Young was coming at him too. At least if it’s Collins/Capela you could maybe argue that they’re more likely to be able to block/impede the shot or foul him without allowing him to make the shot. But Trae Young isn’t doing horsefeathers there other than letting you dunk.

The Sixers have had 3 top 2 picks in the last 11 years. All 3 of them (Evan Turner, Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz) have developed crippling mental blocks to the point where they either physically couldn't or wouldn't shoot the basketball. Turner and Fultz have basically played themselves out of the league or to roles where they are buried on the bench. Simmons will hang around for at least 4 more years (mainly because he pockets 140M+ in this time), but interesting to see where his career goes from here. Clearly needs a change of scenery, but if I'm a team I wouldn't take him for much more than a salary match trade. Maybe the Sixers can get CJ McCollum if the Blazers want him to get a change of scenery and think they can fix Simmons, but I wouldn't do more than other disappointing big salaries. I'm talking Otto Porter, Pistons Blake Griffin type contracts. Simmons is not 25 til next month, but I don't remember anyone being able to turn it around with these type of mental blocks shooting the ball.
