So why are UNC and Iowa St in a NY6 game and not IU? Can anyone explain this to me like I'm 6?

Carolina is in one because the ACC has a contract with the Orange Bowl for its best non playoff team. That's also why Virginia was in the game last year over a whole bunch of more deserving teams.

Iowa State is still in there because the committee ranked them higher. Couldn't tell you why.

Barta from Iowa said something about Iowa State had more quality wins. But...they also lost 3 games. Indiana lost ONE game and it was to the #3 team in the final ranking.

As an IU fan I am pretty frustrated with the entire process. Granted, I never in a million years expected to be discussing College Football Playoff frustrations in regards to my school. 2020 sure has the market on strangeness cornered.

They beat Texas (#20) and Oklahoma (#6) who just avenged that loss. IU has no ranked wins now, but 3 when the games were played. Still 1 in 7 games to 3 losses in 11.

I still blame the damn Big Ten conference. If they stuck to their own horsefeathering rules, it would be IU/NW winner in a NY6 and Ohio St still in the playoff with a win over Iowa.

Indiana has zero wins against teams with winning records
Indiana doesn't have 3 losses.

And if they beat Ole Miss they still wouldn’t.

I know opt-outs are obviously part of this but it's such a bummer that IU is having its best season in so long end this way. It would've at least been fun to see them play Coastal Carolina or something.

Swinney, whose No. 2 Tigers will play the No. 3 Buckeyes in a CFP semifinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on New Year's Day (8 p.m. ET, ESPN/ESPN App), had Ohio State ranked No. 11 on his final ballot -- lower than any of the 61 FBS head coaches who voted in the poll.

Might not matter but way to give your opponent some added motivation

Seriously. Even if he thinks Ohio State playing 6 games is a joke, and he's said so repeatedly, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to know after Saturday that you're likely to play them, so just move them up your rankings anyway.

Tennessee opted out of Liberty Bowl (program is a mess right now). Hopefully Army gets that spot.

I was waiting for Mustache Man, damn you

Don't worry about how dumb it is that a 2-8 team got a bowl bid, because they're not playing anyway.

A South Carolina reporter added that apparently some players didn't want to play for their interim HC, as well.

Bryan Harsin from Boise State is looking like the next Auburn coach. That’s not a bad hire.

Especially since everyone else turned them down. Rumor has it that the next coach would be forced to keep the defensive staff, as DC Kevin Steel would require yet another large buyout.

PAC-10 Freshman of the year, Ty Jordan killed by gunfire. His cousin came out and said it was someone jealous of his success, but it sounds like he accidentally shot himself. Just a terrible story either way. Over 450 yards in his last 3 games. Promising talent.

Liberty-Coastal tied. Liberty has the ball 1st and goal at the 2 with about 1:30 left. Coastal with no timeouts. Livery runs a play where the RB stands there with the ball and takes a knee when Coastal gets close to him. Smart. Next play, the RB tries to get a couple yards but Coastal is trying to pull him into the end zone as he’s trying to stay out. He fumbles right before the end zone and Coastal recovers. I thought he got in but the play stood. Going to OT now.

No idea why they didn’t just run the same play on 2nd that they ran on 1st. No need to even let a Coastal player near you.
