My fever dream know is that the Ricketts trade every one, piss off javy and Rizzo to the point that it becomes impossible for them not to say something and Wrigley in 3/4 empty and so is their overpriced hotel. They can’t make payments and have to sell everything. The MLB owners lose their minds and let Cuban buy the team and we start all over. My fantasy world is so, so much better than the real world.

You fantasy world sounds like a horsefeathering nightmare.

Not to mention his fantasy world has put billions in the Ricketts pocket while leaving the organization in shambles. That’s a strange fantasy unless this is a Todd Ricketts account.

Billions are already in their account and they won’t own the Cubs. 1point for me. The Cubs are a nightmare right now and are going to be for the foreseeable future.

Cuban isn’t the savior owner he’s made out to be. He’d absolutely run the team similar to the Ricketts.

The Cubs have made the playoffs in 5 of the last 6 years with 3 NLCS appearances and one title. They’re likely going to be favored to win the division again, and if not favored, will have a decent chance. I’m sorry this has been so hard on you.

If they move Bryant and Hendricks to Toronto we better be getting one or two of their legacies back. You can squint to understand why we got what we got for Darvish because of his contract, but Hendricks has no reason to be traded other than "Why keep a good player if we intend to suck while he has value" and Bryant, issues aside, is still one of our most valuable trading chips.

Yeah, I think trading Hendricks would be a sign that we're fully turning the page. At that point you've absolutely got to do Contreras as well.

I actually don't like the idea of trading Bryant in that case though. If we're just fully trolling for value, hold onto the one year guys til the summer. At least one of them will go off and be mega valuable in July. Don't settle for modest value here in January.

You think trading Hendricks is a sign they’re turning the page?

Trading Hendricks is driving back to the library at 11:30 pm and putting the book in the night time deposit slot and accidentally throwing your keys in the slot as well only to realize this wasn’t a library but a closed down bank branch slated for demolition at midnight.

Not if they trade Hendricks and Bryant. Don’t be ridiculous.

Mark Cuban has owned the Mavs for how long? He had one nice burst of success with Dirk, but the team has been pretty bad for awhile.

You may argue that a billionaire in an uncapped league might do better, but we have no way of knowing that Cuban would just blow through the LT to build the team

I mean, I guess I applaud your optimism that the Cubs would make any sort of move that helps them compete, but it feels like an exercise in disappointment right now.

They did sign an actual backup catcher who shouldn't be too horrible over 200 plate appearances.

But then, I guess that's me being optimistic that they didn't just sign their starting catcher...

Unless they actually sign Didi Gregorius to a two-year contract that pays him $10 to $15 million per season, I am of the belief that the Cubs have shown zero indication or interest in signing anybody for $10 to $15 million per season as they pretend they don't have any money to sign free agents for that.

There is zero reason to think the Cubs are going to stop pretending all so that they can get Didi Gregorius.

Andrelton Simmons to the Twins on a one-year deal. That's an odd fit. Polanco and Arraez have up the middle covered and Donaldson at 3B.

I think they felt about Polanco playing SS kind of how we feel about Happ in CF. Not a disaster, and the bat's totally worth it, but they'd really like to move him down the defensive spectrum.

Blue Jays, Yankees and Padres are signing everyone

I’m absolutely a Jays and Padres fan this season. Those will be fun teams.
