I was sitting here for a few moments wondering what I could post that would be at all entertaining. I feel like my gif game is tired and largely contrived when it isn't connected to something I care about, and some random gif theme tied to current events/Cub happenings would be forced. I was going to type out a diatribe about how NSBB has been losing its steam, in reaction to the dying thread, but what unique insight could I provide for that? Answer: not all too much. But there is one big, huge improvement that could help this board. A plea toward revitalization. At the very least it could provide drama.

...nevermind. I deleted it.

So on to the St. Louis Covids.

The Cubs are currently 13-6, while the Cards are ...4-4?! And we didn't get to watch any games last weekend because these death-wish-cult redbirds can't refrain from pulling slot machines?!

So, this game is, I think, only supposed to go 7 innings. Followed by another 7 inning game in the evening. I have to say, Day/Night double headers are delicious.

Most especially if Hendricks can get through game 1 in 70 pitches, and just keep it going with a short turnover game 2 and pitch 2-4 more innings.

I haven't gotten to watch much of the season so far, but from what I have seen, Happ is the most encouraging occurence by far. Before, he could only really rake from the left side of the plate, but little did we know:

I am immeasurably annoyed that the Cardinals haven't been cancelled from the season. Unsurprisingly, they fell for one of the classic blunders: never attend a casino while a global pandemic is ongoing!

Ok, fine. Let's just contemplate just how wise Westley really was.

Surprised they didnt start this game a little earlier in the day.

Man I would much rather see someone like Ian Miller getting some at bats than Phegley.

are we getting Adbert for game 2 or what?

They haven’t announced who the extra add is but you’d think it’s either him or Tyson Miller. Even if they don’t start, have a guy to soak innings.

Miller is left handed, so they wouldn't be competing for the same at bats. That said, I haven't been paying close attention but especially since Phegley isn't catching I'm a little surprised Caratini hasn't gotten the nod there(and in a couple other past spots I did notice).

Hopefully Kyle is able to go at least 6, if not a CG. Then they can get a little more creative with the bullpen/who starts in the second game. If Kyle goes 6-7 maybe you just start the game with Wick, Jeffress and Tepera/Ryan and try to get through 5-6 with them as an example. If Game 2 goes off the rails just let Underwood or the call up (Adbert/Miller) just wear it. Edited by Cubswin11

Miller starts game 2. Adbert took a line drive off his arm in SB, was originally planned to start today. Sounds like he may be able to go Wednesday.

Given schedule + Chatwood down and bullpen questions/a few spots that are expendable (to put it nicely), as long as Q’s velo is looking fine and he’s not completely wild in SB..... he really needs to be up sooner than later either as opener or pen arm type cover some innings. Him at 35-60 pitches for awhile is better than alternatives of Miller/Adbert/Rea/Underwood.

A traditional doubleheader was sort of a setback; having to play 18 innings in a day. I don't like how Cubs have to suffer 2 double headers, 5 games in 3 days because of the Cardinals incompetence.

A rain delay you can't control. Neither teams do anything wrong and both suffer equally.

But this is not the Cubs fault. We should start each inning with a runner on 2nd as proper punishment to the cardinals.

it should be one of these new covid rules that if Almora makes it to at least 6 pitches in an at bat he gets at least 1st base no matter what happens
