I feel like I should be more excited than I am. This is definitely a distraction from the world falling apart around us and Agent Orange leading the charge to destroy our democracy.

Still not sure this should be happening, or is actually going to happen....but there's a more naive part of me that thinks this short season and being the first to come back could generate a lot of attention/excitement.

Really wish they would have tried to fill up the days more than they have. First game tomorrow starts at like 3:30 eastern, same with Monday and I assume the rest of the week days. As someone who's had Premier League/Bundesliga and then Thursday/Friday golf on in the background most days, would have been a welcome change.

Now they are talking about the expansion of the playoffs and the top finishers choosing their opponents. Maybe its because I will be shocked if the Cubs go 30-30 but im not real excited for a "season" even with the current plague canceling normality

I'm excited because its live sports, but now as excited as I thought I would be. Having 4 months without sports (other than English football which is my "5th sport") has gotten me used to living without it (and in reality it was more like 6 months because I barely watched any Bulls or Hawks before that). That said, holy horsefeathers the number of days I waited for actual real sports. There are like a million things the pandemic took away from me (though much less than many), and having some semblance of normalcy from live sports is very welcomed.

I think I’m actually more excited now than I was in March. To be honest I didn’t (and don’t) have a lot of hope for this roster, and there’s a good chance this team looks a lot like they have the last two years.

But now with the shortened season and the expanded playoffs it feels like anything is possible. Will it be ugly? Maybe. But I’m gonna be here for every minute of it.

I’d be pretty excited if I could watch the game on YouTube TV. My neighborhood bar has all the games but they’re all closed here again.

does youtube tv have espn?

(even if youtubetv had marquee you wouldn't be able to watch outside of the cubs viewing area - but you can on MLB.tv - for games that aren't already being nationally televised, that is)

Yes, YTTV has basically every near-mainstream sports channel save for maybe NFL Network.

Love that lineup. I'm irrationally confident in Happ this year so I'd love him at 6, but I'm cool waiting for him to prove it out. Also with his patience maybe right in front of KB and Rizzo is better even if I'm right.

Same, I'm not a big fan of the second leadoff bit they're doing with Happ, but he's had enough inconsistency that I'm okay with him hitting his way up the lineup as long as he gets that shot.

that Brewers lineup on the other hand, man that's doing a lot of hoping that Hiura keeps a .400 BABIP and that Smoak and Braun aren't washed

I forgot that Lorenzo Cain broke last year. If he stays broken, which, the 8 hole isn't projecting a lot of confidence, that is a very poor lineup.
