That is legitimately the funniest thing to happen to the Bears since the double doink.

This nfl season isn’t happening

Edit: this dude just appears to be some rando college kid with no real sources

I can swear I've seen him break something before, but I could be wrong. FWIW, Aaron Lemming (another twitter guy with a shaky reputation) was also saying before this that he's heard there is an offensive player on the Bears that plans to opt out. That either means "Greg" is connecting the dots and Foles just seems like a likely person considering he has a newborn, or there is smoke here. We'll see.

Bears pundit twitter slowly coming to terms with the fact that the guy who lost jobs to Keenum and Minshew isn’t a slam dunk to beat out a still-crappy Trubisky.

Shoulda just signed Bortles and kept the pick and several millions of dollars.

The beat writers are saying that Nagy won't overdo it with Trubisky praise, or pump him up. I'm convinced that it's because Mitch looked good in training camp only to freeze once the actual games start, he's a little gun shy in building him up (and giving him the tough love compared to coddling him in the past).

I can't help but think that Mitch will continue to look better in camp than Foles, essentially forcing the team to see if Mitch can do it in the games or not. Maybe Mitch starts with a very short leash? Or does the coaching staff say "fool me once, but not again" and start Foles? Foles will have to outperform or at least keep up with practice Mitch for this to happen.

Whoever starts will be facing the Lions, Giants, and Falcons, then the Colts, Bucs, and Panthers. Only the Colts seem like a really strong defensive team, but I am not up to speed with current projections. If whoever starts can't get it done in these first 6 weeks it's an easy decision to pull them and move on to the other guy.

trying not to get overly excited about all the buzz coming out of camp about the tight ends (specifically graham and kmet)

given how important that position is, it's no surprise the offense struggled with what they got out of it last year. even mere adequacy at that position would be a huge step up. if mitch could even be 2018 mitch with these guys, the team would be good again.

of course, that all also depends on the o-line too.

.

I mean, if it wasn't specifically those two, it wouldn't be anybody

Not sure what the Bears current cap situation is but FWIW, current FA RBs include:

Devonta Freeman

Chris Thompson

Bilal Powell

Isaiah Crowell

Buck Allen

Spencer Ware

Is Freeman hurt or has he just been that bad lately? I think Powell is basically retired. Chris Thompson has mostly been used as a pass catching RB and we already have Cohen so we should be probably be looking for guys that can give us a few yards between the tackles.

I guess none of it matters because the Bears line won’t be able to block for them anyways.

I don't know if its the lack of pre-season games or just a mix of everything else in the world, but it doesn't make sense to my brain that the NFL season starts in 2 weeks.
