Philly is favored by 5. The last time Chicago visited I was "gifted" free tix that I had no interest in using, as the Bears were predictably trounced by a very good Eagles team. This version of the Eagles isn't that good, but they are good enough that this game is pretty close to a gimme.

I see the Bears winning big - even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while and, the Eagles are terrible vs the Pass - or, much more likely, them losing a close game. A close game with the same old, same old, flashes of brilliance overshadowed by Mitch' misses of wide open receivers, taking bad sacks, dropping the ball because he lost it in the Sun or something likewise stupid.

 

And, of course, Jordan Howard will have a great game afterwards, he'll be profusely congratulated by all of his former teammates ala Cedric Benson, hell, they'll probably carry him off the field. Has a former Bear EVER had a bad game against the Bears? It has happened, right?

Everyone always points to Mahomes and Watson when discussing the Trubisky miss, and rightfully so, but I forgot how much talent was actually in the top of that draft.

Assuming the Bears weren't aiming to pick a WR in that draft, it would have been hard to miss unless you picked Mitch or Solomon Thomas (who of course the Bears were rumored to pick if they didn't get Mitch).

For sure, nothing is going to change positively. We're gonna lose for a couple more seasons, then bring in a new front office, who will draft a new QB. That QB will show some flashes but ultimately suck, but we might get a season or two in there where the defense is amazing and we get a lot of close wins.

 

But if a team isn't going to be great, misery porn is the next best thing. And it's hard to find good misery porn anywhere in sports these days because all the bad teams are tanking and their fans love it.

 

A team that thought it was going to be good and having to slowly come to terms with the fact that it's bad? That's a rare and special gift in today's sports world.
