Going to be great when fall out of the race by early September as Lester goes 4-18 and then they spend the last couple weeks hyping up David Ross: Player-Manager Day.

Mostly kidding, because managers don't matter, but you know they'll try to pull that if they can.

We bypassed a couple of guys everybody seems to want to hire a guy no other organization showed the remotest interest in even interviewing. Given the organization's track record over the past three years, it seems only natural to be a bit uneasy about that.

It's all about the fit.

Didn't he interview with the Twins last year?

Between his frenemy relationship with many of the players as well as his comments about good hitters hitting near the top I say F it, I'm on the Rossy train. Hopefully there's still some magic left in there.

I'm pretty sure that it's scientifically impossible to be worse at bullpen management than Maddon was (sorry Anaheim), so....yay??

I do think it's funny that we are all inspired by somebody advocating for the best hitters to get the most at-bats.

Yet, we know first-hand that not everybody does it, so point goes to Ross here.

Hot taek: Ross is a good hire and I think he'll be a decent to very good manager.

I agree, I mean when he came in as a player here all we heard about from people how he was going to make a good manager one day. I think at worst he’s going to be adequate and just kinda follow the information and data available and we know (at least with the current team) he’s a guy who can be a leader and command respect.

The guys I wanted most were Beltran or Ibanez, and neither of those were happening and Beltran was more for the show anyway would have been a disaster IRL

By Ross's part of the statement it looks like press conference on Monday. (edit: and that's what Jordan Bastian is saying too)

Just because I recently looked it up, I know that Dave Martinez signed the exact same contract (years wise) with the Nationals 3 plus club option
