I know some of you hate the Brewers more but horsefeathers the Cardinals and BFIB, and no way that horsefeathering town gets two titles in a year.

I turned this on for the nostalgia of the WGN finale. But I swear I'll turn this off at the slightest hint of molina doing well.

You have to almost applaud the way the Cubs completely gave up. I mean none of this matters anymore and they aren’t playing their best players but you’d think there was some level of pride to not want to finish the season losing 12 in a row including 7 to your arch rivals.

(I know it’s only the 4th)

Who of their best (assuming health) are they not playing?

I’m genuinely asking because my uncle from Milwaukee is complaining and I looked at the lineup and said “they suck but that’s the best (aside Heyward who pretty much sucks)”

Cards will be bounced by the Braves

Oh I’m not sure I just assumed they weren’t. I see Kemp and Almora are in there and Mills is pitching

I’m bately watching (obviously) but kemp took Heywards place and Almora wasn’t in the original lineup posted so no clue what’s up there.

Castellanos got scratched late for a groin injury so that’s why Almora is in

And Mills is probably one of our better starters at this point.

It sucks he’s out of options next year. Don’t think you can go in to next year with him as the planned 5th starter but maybe they do and save the money there (and assume you can have something shake out between him, Adbert, Chatwood, Graveman, Rea) to spend elsewhere.

Little late if he was going the team-worthy slump buster

Yeah, regardless how this game shakes out I think he’s shown enough to not let loose. There’s enough there for the the value of bringing him back. They have five better starters next year? Great. Bury him in the pen.

But I like one of him or Chatwood (hell, maybe both) to be more than adequate as #5.

There’s also a reason I bury my baseball thoughts in game threads and not the roster 2020 thread. I don’t really know horsefeathers.

You definitely don't let Mills just walk in the offseason. If you do acquire another starter, then maybe you move him, but I'd expect him to be with the Cubs through spring training.

Personally, I think Chatwood has shown enough that if the Cubs were to eat part of his contract for next year, you could move him for actual value. He could slot in as a 5th starter to a team hoping to either have him eat innings, or to try and improve on this year enough to move him at the deadline, and at 1 yr, $6.5m that's not a bad contract to take. If that's the case, Mills is kept around and breaks camp in that swing role.
