8 more games of Maddon.

3 and he physically starts mailing it in, rather than just mentally

He sure will be the fall guy but there is blame for this mess at all levels.

Ricketts and Theo are responsible for allowing the Brewers and Cardinals to narrow the gap

Maddon and the players are responsible for allowing the Brewers and Cardinals to pass them

I’m really surprised how so many facets of the Cubs success thru 2016 seems to have changed for the worse. They don’t work counts very often. They often seem to have a poor approach to ABs. They are poor on the base paths. They aren’t very good defensively. They don’t seem to K batters, or they seem to pitch to contact more.

Tough, tough season(s).

Amen. That team was just on another level. Everything since then just feels like a bloated mess, despite superficially a lot of wins. The 2016 cubs felt indestructible.

Ready to be done with Maddon but who replaces him? Nobody comes to mind and the players still love him though. I’m not anticipating big changes in the offseason and that’s probably bad.

They lost that edge, man.

That 2016 was simply amazing. I'm just grateful it happened. But the core has never really looked the same since because of all those things you mentioned.

Heyward needs to step up with an inspirational speech, maybe something like this:

Gotta hope one of these upcoming games has a rain delay or whatever happened to get the first one

Tomorrow’s game appears to be a washout altogether so we’ll probably end up with a 161 game season.

Forget this. Let's focus on teams that might actually make the playoffs.

My adult novice ice hockey league team plays tonight and tomorrow night to finish out the regular season. Top 4 make the playoffs. We are tied for third with the tiebreaker over team A, and team B is one win behind but has the tiebreaker over us. A and B both have games against the last-place team this weekend, we have to play the 1st and 2nd.

I will keep you all updated.

How many times has Schwarber been thrown out on the bases in the last week? Terrible base runner.

I'm not entirely sure which one is going to cause me to shoot myself in the head. This Cubs team or Jim Harbaughs death spiral into a 80 year old Steve Spurrier who gets outcoached in the XFL.

It cannot be understated how horrendously the FO has botched the pitching for the Cubs. They are in an awful, awful position for next season.

Lester needs to get on some designer PEDs that the olympians wouldn't even pop for. Or maybe some of that Astro pine tar.

For all the criticism Joe has gotten for his use of the bullpen, I'm pretty much okay for him to just throw the randos out there right now. "You're going to give me Danny Hultzen? AWESOME, ENJOY YOURSELF SOME DANNY HULTZEN"

I don’t know who needs to read this, but you do not have to watch the Cubs

Oh, this grousing is all from Gameday alone; I'm finally rewatching The Shield, and right now Vic Mackey is, amazingly, coming across FAR more likable than Theo's smug bull horsefeathers.
