Just a heads up, the Astros won the World Series 2 years ago and Maldonado was not on that team.

Right last year Boston won when 35 year old Steve Pearce won World Series MVP after getting traded there in season.

Steve Pearce had a .868 OPS in Toronto and a .901 OPS with Boston.

Jesse Chavez...

4.51 ERA lifetime before Cubs, 1.15 with Cubs and now 4.36 post Cubs.

Now do Daniel Descalso.

Then do Carlos Gonzalez.

Then do Martin Maldonado.

And Brandon Kintzler last year.

Well, his .689 OPS at Busch bodes almost as poorly as his .627 OPS at Wrigley.

OPS better than KB's .621 in St Louis, and at least JL gets on base there hitting .295 with a .337 OBP for that OPS. They both have the same amount of hits in St Louis this year, but KB has 17 more AB

Wow, thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully they DFA Bryant when Lucroy joins the team.

The hilarious multi-car pileup of someone simultaneously flogging the meatballiest of meatball takes (that bad players suddenly becoming good when moved to a contending team is any kind of a thing) while hyper-obsessing over the drilldown stats of the tiniest of sample sizes is just a deliciously majestic lack of self-awareness.

It has to be satire.

Edit: on second thought: do you remember tom29 from ten years ago or so? This person sounds like Tom studied sabrmetics at Phoenix College and came back with all the necessary skills to put us all in our place.

You guys apparently need to watch more baseball as every year guys get traded to contenders and see major boots in performances. Its amazing how you idiots are willing to go full [expletive] on other subjects because you got triggered by me saying Russell should be on the team. Additional names from last year are Kevin Gausman 4.43 with the O's heads to Atlanta and has a under 3 ERA in 10 starts. Brach went from a 4.85 to a 1.52. Ryan Pressly went from a 3.40 ERA to 0.77.

The Cubs just last year got

Hamels 2.36 ERA in 12 starts

Chavez 1.15 ERA in 32 games

De La Rosa 1.17 ERA in 17 games

Garcia got bombed in a spot start but they got him for the BP and he posted a 1.23 ERA in his 7 games out of the pen.

Edit: it’s been 16 years, we’re allowed to laugh about this now right?

I know I shouldn’t actually respond to this discussion but I don’t know what’s better in that post:

-Cherry picking examples that prove his point. A 5th header should be able to understand the logical fallacy here

-Still not able to explain why the Cubs winning environment was able to impact Jesse Chavez, but didn’t inspire him on any of the other 5 playoff teams he was a part of and pitched anywhere from average to very poor

-Using Garcia as an example but only after removing his worst performance

-Using Garcia based on 7 apperances

Can't you just go to your safe space?

Posted

I would go to my safe space but they don't show competitive sporting events there and then I won't be able to watch all the baseball games I need to watch to somehow find out that sometimes guys play better after being traded.

Real catch 22 if you ask me
