For all intents and purposes Mitch currently holds the best single-season QB Rating for a Bears QB of all time. (I adamantly refuse to count 5 games of Josh McCown, thats not a full season).

This really says only 2 things: The game itself has changed tremendously and also the Bears QB history is just dreadful.

It's still almost unfathomable we haven't had a 4,000 yard passer in a season. It feels like one of those weird stats we'll never best, where the Football Gods will intervene and injure a QB before capturing it.

Am I jinxing anything by typing out that this Bears team has alot of similarities to the 2015 Broncos? The 2018 Bears’ defense is more dominant probably, possibly moreso than any gaps in offense

well:

1) we haven't won the super bowl yet

2) we dont have a geriatric QB

3) i like our D more

but beyond that sure

I'm starting to feel confident about snagging that bye. We just saw that 49ers team has some fight.

the potential for an upset coupled by a strong push by the 49ers and a soft season ending by the Rams is exactly why I want max effort in MPLS

The problem is, in addition to having to play a WC game at home, the road to the SB is likely thru both LA and NO on the road. The 2015 Broncos I believe were a #1 seed? Maybe the Rams lose Sunday, Bears win, and a team like Seattle upsets NO in the divisional round.

I went and checked the 2015 Broncos stats and holy moly I had no recollection at just how bad Peyton Manning was that year. He was terrible.

Still pulled it together and destroyed the Panthers, so there's that.

The Broncos played Brock Osweiler instead of him that year, which created the unstoppable monster that is Brock Osweiler versus the Bears.

I'm gonna be at this one. In Minnesota for the holidays. Pretty excited to see the Vikings' new stadium, I think it looks cool as hell but I've only ever seen the outside.

This will be my second ever Bears game. Also my second ever NFL game. The first was that one Monday night game a few years back, also against the Vikings, when the Metrodome roof collapsed due to a snowstorm so they had to play the game outside at the University of Minnesota's football stadium in another snowstorm.

Bears won that one, like 95% sure Devin Hester returned a punt for a TD. Hoping the Bears do go all out in this one, this defense is special and it'd be cool to see them actually trying hard in person.

I don’t feel good about the Bears winning this one. No Jackson, Lynch, Robinson. Vikes at home with everything to play for. I’m clinging to the idea that Cousins will flop in big games like he has typically done.

There’s a 96% chance that the Bears don’t get the bye. I wouldn’t play any important players.

There’s also roughly a 96% chance (95.3% to be exact) that a non-bye team makes it to the Super Bowl. 6 teams out of 128 have done it since 2002. Such a dramatic difference in odds it’s worth trying to me.

You mean there’s only a 4% chance that a non-bye team makes it to the Super Bowl? I’m not worried about being a non-bye team. Defense travels. I’m more concerned that Mack or Trubisky or Hicks or Cohen gets injured.

The percentage of this fan base that wants to tank the bye just because they can't handle the idea of trying for something not guaranteed is infuriating.

It’s much more than not being guaranteed. It’s an incredibly small chance.

That's crazy talk. It involves two football games, one of which is a little better than 50/50 and one of which is a little worse.

What if they get injured in the wild card game?

The Rams are going to win 9/10 times. This isn’t even close to two 50/50 games.

I'm far more worried about a player getting injured in a game that has an incredibly small chance of mattering than I am about a player getting injured in a wild card game that you could have bypassed by playing the starters when too many things would have to happen to even be in that position in the first place

if vikings win it's bears-vikes in the wild card and if not it's bears-eagles right? i'm not afraid of either team but i'd much rather face the eagles. kill the vikes tomorrow and worry about the rest later.
