So many awesome things happened in that game yesterday, and it's very frustrating that Chase Daniel had to be so ineffective. I expect more out of a veteran NFL backup QB. That game gave me the impression that everyone on the team wanted to win that game, except Chase Daniel. So screw you, Chase Daniel!

This is a little meatbally and I don't have anything to really base this on but I feel like they got a little cheeky with Trubisky here and it burned them. They had success resting Robinson and Mack against teams they "should" beat. They tried to do the same with Trubisky and ended up losing a game they should have won. I'm convinced if they played the Rams yesterday, Trubisky would have been playing.

If they lose next week, which is likely, all the sudden they are 8-5 with the Packers coming into town. Packers are a train wreck, but a single game against Rodgers still scares me. I think it's possible that they are 9-6 going into the last game with the Vikings on the road.

Edit: Also Witzmann is going to get DESTROYED by Aaron Donald.

Meh, if the Bears were just gonna go 2-3 down the strecth with wins against NY and SF, might as ell end the misery early.

(half kidding)

Also if Trubisky had won us that game it was probably by running all over a wet field and taking more big hits. I'm okay with holding him back and letting him heal up right.

or maybe by not fumbling 12 times.

They wouldn't have needed much out of Mitch to win that game by 10.

Or making one read and then just freezing in the pocket in terror.

All he had to do was catch the ball on the last drive, I believe they were going to score a TD, he fumbled three times on that drive. Hell, if managed to fumble only once they'd won.

They may have not needed much, but probably still would have gotten it all, and that would be with him tucking and running and not avoiding contact on a tender throwing shoulder.

That's actually a pretty accurate description of Chase Daniel all day long. At no time do I recall Daniel looking comfortable in that game. I don't know if it was the field conditions, the weather, lost confidence after the first pick 6, the defense getting some pressure early or a combination of everything I just mentioned, but he just looked terrible in every aspect of his job. I get that he is rusty from doing nothing more than holding a clipboard for the last dozen or so years, but he was painful to watch.

And yet I still believed he looked notably better than at least 5-6 bears backups over the last 15 years

So I wanted to actually come up with what this list looked like:

Craig Kenzel

Jonathan Quinn

Chad Hutchinson

Todd Collins

Caleb Hanie

Would be the clear bottom 5. Hanie and Collins saw their time in pretty limited action in 2010-11 (though notably with the critical playoff game against GB). Those other 3 all occurred IN A SINGLE SEASON (2004). I'm retroactively awarding Lovie Smith Coach of the Year award for winning 4 games in his inagurual season with those sad sacks starting 13 games. Craig Kenzel has a winning QB record!

I remember being excited about that Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys in 2004 and by like halftime I turned it off and found something else to do because both QBs were so f’ing bad
