its so great that the bears biggest problem right now is that their kicker licks butts

It is, I just hope he doesn’t cost us a playoff game on a poorly aimed 35 yrd’r. As it stands, I’d have enough concerns with his potential that going for it on a 4th and 6 from the 35 yrd line instead of the “sure thing FG” would seem like a viable option. I just want him to be slightly better then league average. He’s not close to that right now.

Special teams in general is bad. Kickoff returns are a disaster with a 2nd returner now. Coverage units aren't great. Gave up an onsides kick. They've already lost a game because of that phase.

That would be a 52 yard FG. It's always a viable option. And history shows he will likely wind up slightly better than league average.

4th and 6 is never a sure thing, in fact, its probably less likely to achieve a 1st down on a 4th and 6 then connecting on a 52 yard field goal which I feel is something every NFL kicker should be trusted with. Sure its a long one. Its also not 62 yards long. And at that spot you're only other viable option is a 30 yrd punt. In a close playoff game, I'm not sure leaving those 3 points on the field because your kicker can't horsefeathering aim correctly is an acceptable thing. And that's the thing about Parkey, he has the leg, he just aims his kicks very very poorly at times. That seems correctable except he hasn't corrected it. Someone else (might have been you) mentions that special teams have sucked across the board. Is this a coaching issue?

Back up the Brinks truck for Toub in the offseason.

He's holding out for a head coaching job which he should get a shot at sooner than later. Has a pretty good thing going on at KC, but yeah the Bears would love to have him.

Hopefully Brant Boyer from the Jets is avail.

While acknowledging all caveats about how NFL stats are way worse than MLB ones because it's really hard to isolate performance from teammates and scheme...Mitch is currently the 4th best QB in the league by QBR, and 8th by DYAR when you combine rushing and passing (DYAR is basically DVOA turned into a counting stat).

Trubisky NFC offensive player of the week.

Matt Nagy should really be the NFC offensive player of the week since he's the only reason Mitch is good right?

YouTube just threw this into my suggestions, figured I'd pass it on for anyone who wants some nostalgia

I was at that game, stood the entire time.

Nagy might be coach of the year.

Also Bovada has their updated SB odds out, and has the Bears at 15-1 to win the SB

I get a lot of crap around here for missing a Cubs playoff game for a concert in 2016, but I might be just arriving in Mexico for a Bears playoff game (Jan 6th, 11:55 AM landing) or (hopefully there's a game that day) actually on a plane (departing right at noon Jan 13th).

really crossing my fingers for some night games, regardless of what day. i'd really love me some saturday games.

Barion's

who?

anyway, i remember that pretty vividly. i also remember being quite drunk and watching this with my family.

i also remembered the reggie bush showboating thing that pissed off the defense (that storyline was funny given that they were playing for a berth in the horsefeathering superbowl but whatever). i remembered the wale forced fumble on brees and the safety too...forgot that it was on intentional grounding tho.

If the Bears play on WC weekend I bet they put them in the noon Sunday slot. I know the Bears don't make the playoffs often but I think the last time they played a Saturday playoff game was vs the Eagles in January 2002.

Based on the standings as they are now:

Saturday afternoon #6 Cincy/Ten at #3 New England/Pitt

Saturday night #5 Carolina at #4 Washington

Sunday noon- #6 Minnesota at #3 Chicago

Sunday 330pm # 5 LA Chargers at #4Houston

I suppose they might flip the AFC games to get NE/Pitt in the late Sunday game.

i'm gonna have to sprint from the airport shuttle straight to the resort's sports bar, beg them to put on the NFL, and then spend the first two hours or so of my trip a nervous and progressively drunker wreck.

Ha, I was supposed to go to Mexico first week of January too but we are postponing the trip until around this time next year. Who knows? if the Bears beat the Rams and end up tied with them for #2 they get a bye and you can get drunk as horsefeathers all week and not have to worry about the Bears.
