So...

With the Cardinals missing the playoffs now 3 yrs in a row

New manager

Cubs and Brewers owning the Division for a couple more years

Do the Cardinals sell this offseason and go in rebuild mode

Nah, they’ll talk themselves in to thinking they can compete again like this year and do some half measure moves and wind up in the low-mid 80s wins again.

Hey, since that's what everyone was saying about the Brewers, too, then this will, of course, mean that they end up with at least 100 wins.

Mo says that is not the Cardinal way of doing things.

Unless they do some crazy trade(s), the VBs are going to be back to being a low-mid 80s team next year too.

Maybe game 163 is a good omen

Didn't the cubs have a tie game in 2016

You think there was another team in the division that won 103 games that year?

Assuming the Cubs go hard after and get either Machado or Harper

Their going to be making a couple big trades themselves to make room

Nevermind. Yes, they had a tie game that year.

But they didn't make one game up so they still only played 162. Finished 103-58

Can you imagine that team mumbling about the Brewers just being too hot to handle and not enough off days?

No just saying they had an odd record in 2016 with the tie and theyll have an odd record this year with the extra game..

Right - that's why I answered the way I did initially. Then I figured it might be read that I was denying they had a tie game that year.

No one here can say they thought 95 wins was not enough. The Cubs are exactly who we thought they were -in spite of slightly above average bad luck with injuries. The Brewers are not what we thought they were.

I think the Fangraphs preseason projection for the Cubs was 94 wins. So, even with the injuries and poor performances we finished one game better than expected.

Basically what I said above (we posted about the same time). This team is everything we thought they were. Stupid run by stupid Brewers changes nothing. This team is good and has overcome a lot already. Now the real, season begins. I can’t be anything but happy.

So the Rockies are starting Marquez tomorrow which means whoever they would pitch on Tuesday would have an ERA of at least 4.38.

Dodgers would probably go tandem starters with Stripling, Maeda and Wood.
