Joe Maddon is a terrific manager at inspiring and motivating guys and in the good times in general but he makes some really really bad decisions when he’s under the gun and the moment is really stressful. My examples include just the 2016 World Series and this year.

 

Not sure if you are implying that this is a stressful moment but either way I really doubt he considers this a stressful moment at all. 2 game lead in the loss column with 17 to play is not exactly back against the wall

 

We’re freaking out because we’re fans. I’m sure there is concern but little stress/freaking out for now

Just want to emphasize that if Russell gets a hit Gore can’t pinch run because Joe put him in the lineup in order to get Contreras an at bat then Zo. Which led him to burn Zo, Bote, and Caratini.
