He could be also trying to welcome the slight chance that he causes enough of a headache that Pittsburgh cedes and rescinds his offer sheet making him a UFA this season.

Pittsburgh would be letting him walk for nothing if they did that. His agent has probably already explained to him that there is even less than a slight chance of that.

They lose him for nothing if he comes back week 11 and finishes out the season too.

Can they trade him and he's able to sign a multi-year deal (similar to Mack)? Just not sure if that's possible during the season, but thought about this earlier today.

They can trade him, but still can't sign an extension. I guess if some serious SB contender had a big injury they might trade like a 7th rounder for a half season of elite RB play, but I wouldn't count on him holding any trade value.

Pittsburgh could technically franchise him again.

I read that they can't trade him unless he signs his tender.

No if he accrues a service year, he'll be granted his FA.

I didn’t see the first half of that game but Cousins looked pretty bad in the second half. 24 points at home against a SF team that turned it over four times. He didn’t turn it over but also really didn’t keep the offense moving. Lots of short drives and missed third downs.

Also, feeling good about Pace’s QB selection vs Lynch’s. Vikes D is good but Garoppolo looked statuesque and bad.*

Edit: To clarify bad, he looked inaccurate and way to sloppy with the football. Could’ve been because of the oressure in his face but that was the first time I saw him play and it wasn’t impressive. He’s still a developing guy though so maybe he’s better than I think. I prefer the Bears guy though.

What’s the relevance of this? I get the RB adages but Bell’s one of the handful most valuable non-QBs in the league when on the field so...

There is none. It's one of many lame attempts to draw a straight line between salary and production

Denzel Ward with 2 picks and 2 PDs in his debut

He and Garrett are extremely enviable building blocks

Garrett could legit win Defensive POTY. Browns have a ton of talent. Whether they have the coaching to bring them together as a team.....who knows?

Bucs offense was out of control today. I suspect it had less to do with the Saints D being bad and more to do with the fact that Jameis wasn’t controlling the offense.

Think it has more to do with nobody on the team besides Lattimore can cover those big WRs.

What a debut for Gruden.

It's going to be a horsefeathering disaster and I'm going enjoy every horsefeathering minute of it. I love seeing stupidity punished in sports teams.

Hey, let's hire this guy who hasn't coached in a decade and really was only good for a few years (took over a 4-12 Raiders team and had a good 5 year run. Took over a solid TB team, won a Super Bowl, then won 10+ games once in the next 6 years). Oh, and we're going to hand him a 10 year horsefeathering contract for $10M a year.

Hey, let's cut a punter for supposed personality issues, but then trade a third round pick for a guy with multiple drug suspensions (I don't particularly care about weed but he was still suspended) and was demoted to the practice squad for ripping his team/coach/QB for a lack of targets.

Hey, let's trade a dude who was an All-Pro at two positions in 2015, an All-Pro at one position in 2016 and won Defensive POY that year, is only 27 and in the prime of his career because we don't want to pay him.

Oh, and the reason we can't pay one of the best pass rushers in the league is because we gave a slightly above average QB a huge contract after one good year where the team had a fluky 12-4 record because they went 8-1 in games decided by 7 points or less.

Since 1999, there have been 137 games where a team has been +5 or better in turnover margin. Teams are 132-4-1 when they have a +5 or better. The Browns are responsible for two of those losses and the tie.

So the Browns have failed to win more games with a +5 or better margin than the other 31 teams combined.
