Sorry for the negativity in a game we're winning by 9, but Happ still needs to go to Iowa.

Yeah I'm generally of the mind "don't jump to any conclusions until at least Memorial Day" but dude is running a 45% k-rate in just under 100 PAs. His in zone contact rate was only 62% coming into play, so it has probably dropped into the 50's by this point. Guy just looks broken.

That being said, I'm fairly happy with the strides he's made on defense :dontknow:

Automated strike zones, please.

most times umpires are doing their best to call balls and strikes even when they are wrong. This guy was purposely calling balls as strikes, and I don't think it's even that strong of an allegation.

You know, I don't necessarily care if an ump expands a bit to get the damn game over, but this part pisses me off:

He just took away an RBI from a player who may never get another chance for one.

you guys are overreacting to a bad non-ball 4 call on a pitcher with the bases loaded in a 9 run game

that thing would've had to been too far for the catcher to reach to not get called strike 3

In general I hate the idea of a slaughter rule in MLB, but I like it much better than umpires changing the zone mid game to move it along.

You'd hope come arbitration time that the Cubs wouldn't hold it against him.

Also reacting to the awful calls for Baez.

If some dumb miracle happens and the Marlins score like 15 runs, I'm going to be more pissed than I am right now with this zone.
