How long would Javy have to do horsefeathers like this before I'm like ok he's for real? because i dont feel close to that yet

FWIW, i don't remember him having a stretch of his career this good for over a month, fwiw. and there are tangible and noticeable differences in what he's doing at the plate. will be interesting to see how the league adjusts back.

He put up an .899 in 06/2016 and a .846 in 07/2016, bookended by .551 and .594.

That's about as hot as he's been, as I can tell, and I forgot how good he was last year...851 OPS in the second half. It's not the 'ideal' type of a high OPS, but I'll more than take it.

he was probably being shielded a lot more in those stretches though.

dude's got a 158 wRC+ and .405 wOBA through 132 PA right now. basically playing everyday. oh and his strikeout rate is 19.7% LOL.

Addis first of the season

What woke the Cubs up, the Cardinal series or the Machado talk?

I'm going with the Marlins being an AAA team and the Cubs not being an AAA team for $500.

And he's oddly keeping up the reverse splits too. .449 wOBA against righties, .287 against lefties (38 PAs)

I think parts of it are definitely real (he’s definitely not as free swinging anymore like the K rate shows) but he still isn’t walking at all so he’s going to have to keep getting a lucky with the batted balls to stay all-star level productive I’d guess

He's not really getting lucky though. wOBA of .396 and an xwOBA of .419 coming into today.

His BABIP is 50 points lower than last year though. He's just playing at a 60 HR pace. That won't last, but even if they don't go out, that kind of batted ball usually ends up doing something positive.

Yeah, never been a big Pat Sajak guy even though he graduated from the same college as me.

I wasn’t aware of that. I just assumed he had a crazy BABIP since he cut the K rate down so much and still is walking at like 4%.

Russell is going deep, too.

I think my proudest moment as a Cubs fan was calling Russell's game 6 grand slam, and calling the distance within like 3ft. My life has been all downhill since that.

everyone's has.

Literally the entire horsefeathering world.

I wonder if someone will hit for the cycle today? I was hoping that ball Maybin caught would drop, but I doubt KB would've gotten a triple on that.

Q looks good today. I thought he was going to struggle mightily, but then I remembered this Marlins squad is really like a AAA team lol.
