I enjoy hearing about ex-cubs, especially prospects and couldn't find a obvious thread.

Christian Villanueva, now a Padre, hit 3 hrs against the Rockies on Tuesday and now has 7 hrs in his first 14 games as an MLBer. 1 of 3 in MLB history to do that - I expected a Kevin Maas or a Jim Traber to be one of the two but it was Bobby Estalella and Jarrett Parker or who and who?

I'm still willing to take him back when the Tigers are ready to move on and eat most of his contract.

To play.....3B?

Well, if the Tigers eventually get to a point where they are fed up and looking to dump him and pay most of his salary to do so, he could come back and play a super-utility role.  Probably wishful thinking, and it may not make perfect sense with the current roster construction, but I would take Javy back anytime.

After that utterly brutal start, Javy is slashing .325/.387/.494 over his last 23 games and 93 plate appearances.

Arbitrary end points and small sample size and etc., but the arrow seems to be pointing in the right direction.

Noticed Cubs cast off Zach McKinstry has a .275/.362/.396/.758 line with the Tigers this year with a 113 OPS+ and 0.4 WAR.  He led off tonights game with a homer so those numbers will be higher.

McKinstrey is some serious rewriting of history. Nobody here was clamoring to keep him

Who here is claiming they wanted him to remain with the Cubs?  Still makes us look bad if we cut a dude and he puts up a 3 win season immediately after.

He's at 0.9 fWAR now btw.  He also had a 0.9 fWAR with the Cubs last season in a similar number of games, but most of that value was defensive last year and this year its mostly offensive.

I probably missed this elsewhere, but Soler is having quite the season. Tied for 3rd in the MLB in homers (20), .919 OPS, 148 OPS+, and looks to be on pace to come close to his 2019 stat line. He's built up quite the resume - 2 world series, a world series MVP, and a home run title with a chance for the second. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with more career home runs than Bryant.

If only the DH had come to the NL 6-7 years earlier

In an effort to post about anything but the current roster I bring up Javier Baez.  His biblical level struggles with the Tigers is no secret but I just noticed that for the last 2 years he is rocking (to no apparent benefit) the lowest SO%s of his career.  I think he is essentially league average for the last 2 years.  Is that not surprising - am I missing something?
