Thanks everyone for the Ziegler explanations. Ground ball rate is very attractive, but he's getting hit hard this year.

Either way, I woke up looking forward to a Bryce Harper trade, and now we're on like hour 2 of the Brad horsefeathering Ziegler watch. Someone needs to do something cool here.

I would feel okay if the Cubs opted to go dumpster diving for relief help on the waiver wire. I like Ziegler, but I don't think they have the farm to trade for a high level reliever and I don't foresee anyone on the 25 man getting moved until the offseason.

When you see what these RPs are going for we pretty easily could’ve matched most of the packages with just minor leaguers that it’s taken to get them. I think we will get something still and think it might even be something pretty good/cool yet.

Yeah I think Kirby Yates might be the only reliever on the block who would have an acquisition cost that causes any consternation.

Yeah I’m still hoping for 1 of Yates, Pressly or Conley. And holding out hope for something big out of left field

I’m breathlessly awaiting Tommy Pham verbally unloading on the Cardinals organization the minute he reports with the Rays. We all know it’s going to happen.

Does that make me a bad person?

Pressly already traded to the Astros, but I like the other two!

More room for Newcomb and Hader. I love it when a plan comes together.

Does a trade for another starter possible free up Monty (and others) for a bigger trade? Or is it to get Monty in the BP to add to the super bullpen?

Call me crazy but I don't hate trading for Harvey if the cost is minimal. I like the idea of acquiring a crapload of pitchers and hoping 3-4 of them work out.

Strangely at the same time, I would love it if Harvey was the Brewers deadline move because I don't fear him at all.

Matt Harvey is clearly not broken anymore and if you're a glass half full guy you might even call him average.

However, even with our rotation's struggles there's no one I'd want him to replace post-Chatwood.

I feel the same way on Harvey, I don’t really like it but would get it. I think he mostly sucks but gives us options/allows Montg back to the pen. But also if he goes to the VBs I’ll laugh. Basically, do better Theo.

Wouldn't be bad for some starts here and there and see how his stuff plays out of the bullpen for October.

RIP the last shred of the dream of the vaunted Pham-Piscotty-Grichuk OF that could have been.

The pixie dust is wearing off sooner and sooner these days. Pray for Harrison Bader; he's not long for this world.

Is there any chance the Cards didn’t call to see if Pham would be enough for Hader? I bet they even offered a package that included Hicks.
