So in the last 45 seconds Xavier let 22 seconds run off the clock (including a timeout in the middle) before fouling while down 1 with 22 seconds left. Then down three, they walk the ball up the court and hoist a 3. It was an open one but show some urgency and maybe go to the basket.

That was awful. But seems like they always lose their tournament games in a painful way. Macura really got fucked on 3 foul calls there. Him having to be out so long and then fouling out killed them.

UMBC is pretty much a commuter school. It was funny when ESPN went there to get a shot of the whole campus going nuts and they had to gather all 40 people that didn't go home for the weekend together to look like anyone cared.

 

UMBC has a fine chess program.

That was an incredible first weekend. I wasn't really expecting it after a few of the good mid majors got locked out. And, incredibly, we got all that madness without a 12 seed winning a game.
