It would be a very Browns thing to do to take a QB #1 assuming Barkley will still be there at #4. The Giants could easily take Saquon at #2

Actually, the Browns thing to do would be to trade out of #1 and settle for Mason Rudolph in the 2nd round

They shouldn't even bother worrying whether the top RB will be available to them at 4. If he's there yay pleasant surprise win, but walking out without at least one of Darnold, Rosen, and Mayfield is worst case scenario for their offseason since I don't see them in Cousins rumors.

One of Darnold, Rosen and Mayfield will be there at #4.

The eagles just won a super bowl without a top tier passer.

They did have an MVP candidate at the position for 13 games.

so what. Thy won a super bowl with a castoff qb. People try to gloss over that to make their grand "only elite qbs " win in playoffs arguments, but it's wrong. All sorts of lower caliber qbs have won playoff games. The point is it's nearly impossible to have sustained succes without an elite qb and a bad one can sink a good team. But you can build a great team and "do things in this league" without a top tier passer.

Umm ok

Browns traded QB Deshone Kizer to Packers for CB Damarious Randall, per source. In addition; the teams’ swapped picks in the 4th and 5th round.

A buddy of mine who is a Packers fan sent me this.

An offense centered around Tyrod Taylor, Saquon Barkley, Josh Gordon, and Jarvis Landry could be really great.

Oh, and with a horsefeathers ton of cap room? Could be good and fast.

Hopefully Kizer got away from Cleveland in time to avoid complete career destruction

(I'm mostly kidding, there's a good chance he just sucks, but he sure as hell was never gonna succeed there)

In past years, the Browns would out think themselves and either stretch with one of these picks or trade down for no good reason. It will be interesting to see if the new GM can stay cool and do the obvious thing

I don’t think trading down from 4 would be a terrible move. Take Barley 1, QB goes 2, Chubb or someone to Indy then get a QB desperate team to come up to 4 (Bills?) to trade down.

Sure, depends on the team. I don't think it's a terrible idea for Cleveland to take a QB this year (despite trading for Taylor), but maybe there is someone they like in the late 1st/early 2nd (Jackson, Rudolph, etc.) and they can get some picks. Of course, Browns fans are tired of "stockpiling picks as a strategy" and would like to see some actual players on the team

If Darnold is there at #4, Cleveland probably still takes him. Taylor is expensive and has not proven to to be a franchise QB yet. Taylor gives Darnold a year of learning the ropes. A receiver corps of Gordon, Landry, Coleman and Njoku and then adding a running game where Barkley is the feature back and Duke Johnson or a Jerrick McKinnon free agency type add as their 3rd down receiving back could turn this into a good offense. Overall, I like what Cleveland has done here. They definitely needed a shot in the arm.

Taylor had 7 opportunities against playoff teams last year

CAR

ATL

NO

KAN

NE (x2)

JAX (wild card)

He threw 2 TDs in those games. 3 times (CAR, NE, JAX) the Bills scored 3 points. Against the Falcons he threw 1 TD, they got 3 FG, and the determining score was a fumble return TD, or they would have lost 17-16. Against the Saints he completed 9/18 passes for 56 yards and was yanked for Nathan Peterman, who threw a 2nd half TD, something Tyrod didn't do once against a playoff team. Against the Patriots the 2nd time they got 3 FG and an INT return. The defense gets major credit for holding the Chiefs to 10 points but alas he did just enough to squeeze out a victory, including his other TD pass against a playoff team.

I mean he was absolute trash against playoff teams. It's easy to see why they determined they had seen enough to know that he just doesn't have it as a starter in the league.

His numbers weren't great, but his receiving core was literally the worst in the league. Now, he's going to have actual weapons to throw to, provided that they hold on Gordon. Nobody's expecting him to be franchise QB for the year or 2 he's in Cleveland. He's bridging them while they groom Darold to take over full time.
