Hearing rumors that A&M is going to give Jimbo a 10-year $75MM deal. I think that's ridiculous but it ain't my money, so go right ahead if that's what it takes.

It seems like coaches switch schools within the SEC far more often than any other conference. You almost never see it in the Big Ten

they are much more comfortable getting into bed with their own down there

Money is literally no object to folks at Texas A&M. They have a dozen boosters who literally have hundreds of millions of dollars. It's gross the amount of resources that athletic department has. There's zero reason they shouldn't be winning 10 games a year, which I guess is why they fired Sumlin.

10 wins is only a birthright if you have an incredible coach, there are no moats due to resource advantages in the SEC(or most power conferences, but especially the SEC). Sure Texas A&M is number 1 in revenue, but there are 11 SEC teams in the Top 25.

Yes, you're mostly right about that. Almost top to bottom the SEC has top-notch facilities that rival anywhere else in the country.

I guess in this context, when I talk about resources I'm mainly talking about the "other" things. A&M sits in the top 2 or 3 most fertile recruiting grounds in the country and according to Rivals rankings they've only finished above 10th place in recruiting once in the past decade. That will change if/when Jimbo gets there.

From 2014-2016, aTm was 6th, 10th, and 17th in Rivals' rankings, and they lost 5 games with those classes leading the way. Recruiting matters, and Fisher is a good coach so he'd make them better, but there's an upper bound to how much it matters relative to the actual ability to develop players. 10 SEC schools were in the Top 19 in 2014 classes, only 3 of those coaches are going to coach those teams in 2018.

Sumlin’s early success at aTm was propped up by Manziel. The record dropped when Johnny left

He could get the talent to campus. They just couldn't coach them up.

Apparently Peyton Manning called Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy to try to sell him on going to Tennessee. Gundy is supposed to be interviewing with the Vols in Dallas today.

I get the reason for it but the big 12 having a title game with the 1st and 2nd place teams playing each other after everyone has played each other once annoys me

If not for the fact that it would backdoor Alabama or Ohio State into the playoff again, I'd find the idea of TCU beating OU and knocking the Big 12 out hilarious.

Apparently Arizona State is going to hire Herm Edwards. Lol.

63 year old coaches with no recruiting ties to the state are the new market inefficiency
