Man, it would be pretty freakin' amazing if Justin Wilson remembered that he's Justin Wilson. Gimme that sweet, sweet Bullpen of Doom.

Yeah. Theo brought up how Wilson has dominated Daniel Murphy (in a v small sample) and has made him look very bad.

he did that to a lot of hitters this season, but that all changed when he was cobs

save for a 2 week stretch at the start of his Cubs tenure, Wilson's problem has been exclusively throwing strikes. In his last 15 outings he has 20 K and only 9 hits in 12 IP, it's the 10 walks that are the problem. If he throws strikes he's going to be great, so hopefully a week without game environments has helped him get his mechanics 100% in order.

On a non-analytical level, him making the team over Rondon might give him a nice jolt of confidence. I mean if you look at his pitch data, I don't think much has changed in terms of stuff since coming over. He's just had awful command in general.

i'm never this guy, but damn if i'm not a little emo about having to start the playoffs again and possibly not being world champs anymore. i'm not ready to let go yet.

i guess that leaves only one option (ignore the royals hashtag).

Is anyone else a little alarmed that we're only carrying 11 pitchers and one of them is a questionable healthy Jake Arrieta?

Not really. A best of 5 with off days every 2 days.

Not at all.

They will use at most 4 different starters this series. They have multiple guys in pen that can go long. They had multiple lefties and multiple hard throwing righties. And most important, they have 2 built in off days and no more than 2 games in a row.

Oh and the Dusty redemption narrative is starting to make this a little more personal for me. I want to badly pound this team and sweep them out now. Didn't previously have a ton of ill will for them.

Plus horsefeathers Daniel Murphy.

Dusty dreaming of winning 2 makes me hope we bounce them.

Please stop saying "ninny" like it's not terrible.

It feels analogous to all the deplorables self-referring to themselves as deplorables in a prideful way.

I literally will not be able to watch any kind of happy dusty baker moment during this series

I am very excited about this game. It’s only about two hours until I head to the park. But I am also super nervous. This is going to be a good series.

My thoughts: It comes down to Strasburg being the Strasburg he’s been for the past two months. If he is, it becomes very difficult for you guys to win. If we can get a moderately healthy Max for game 3 or 4,that’s all the better. But I’m not counting on him at this point.

The other key is Ryan Zimmerman. It is clear that Maddon/Cubs pitching do not respect him, because he hasn’t perfomed in the past couple of years. But he is a different player this year. I imagine he will get pitches to hit. If he hits them, the Nats win, if not, they likely won’t, or it will be harder. If he hits, Maddon will have to pitch to Murphy, Harper, and Rendon, which isn’t ideal.

So those are the two most important players in this series. Strasburg and Zimmerman. But That’s from a Nats fan’s perspective. I’d be interested in hearing what Cubs fans think.

Zimmerman's had such an odd year; he was a beast the first two months of the season, seemingly remembered who he actually was for the next 3 months, and then in September flipped it back on again.
