I mean, they're likely to win the division with Lackey as the 5th starter. He's annoying but it's not going to cost us anything.

First, the game isn't over. Second, in that very same World Series season you reference Lackey pitched every 5 days. So yes, dumb post.

 

Lol. So because Lackey was the 5th starter on the World Series team they shouldn't have looked to upgrade? They should have just counted on an aging Lackey to again perform admirably as 5th starter?

you realize the cubs are an overwhelming favorite to make the playoffs and from there it's a crapshoot and lackey won't pitch, right?

I see no reason why the Cubs wouldn't have been fine going into the season with Lackey as the fifth starter, and quite frankly, they probably are fine with it now. Considering we have won like 82 straight games he has started, it's not like his spot in the rotation has cost us many wins the past few months.

 

The Cubs shouldn't be in such a tight race. But Lackey as the fifth starter isn't the reason why they are.

Giancarlo Stanton has hit 30 home runs since the last time the Cubs lost a game started by John Lackey. Also, the Dodgers only led their division by 1.5 games the last time the cubs lost a game started by Lackey.

Let's cut this guy some slack. Maybe he just honestly didn't know that being in the Cubs starting rotation means that you pitch every 5 days, and that was the inexplicable part. Like, maybe he just wants Lackey to pitch every 10 days instead, and can we blame him for that?

Shoehorning Heyward into CF over both Jay and Happ today was kinda annoying. It's about time to stop starting him only because of his contract when he's gone basically two full seasons in a row of being a bad hitter.
