I don't know if this is a thing, or if there's a way to calculate it, but when Addi makes contact he seems to put the barrel of the bat on the ball more so than other people. Or is it just me?

weird, i feel sorta the opposite. like he seems to hit a ton of pop ups and stuff, especially when he falls into his ruts.

Doing a little poking around baseball savant, Russell had a below average Avg. Exit Velocity last year, but was near the top 10% or so in > 95 mph hits and 'barrels'.

Like I said, maybe it's just me. I guess what I meant to say is when he gets a hold of one he really seems to square it up more than some players.

So basically what I was trying to get at. When he squares one up he really nails it if he's in the top 10%. Thanks for the info.

I still think it's laughable he got the platinum glove, but damn is Rizzo slick around the base. He saves so many errors while avoiding the baserunner, and makes it look incredibly easy.

jake was sitting 92-93 on the fastball that inning after being 90-91 against the cards

I think Len and JD are right. The StatCast stuff was all screwy and it was registering pitch types incorrectly.

Yep. A lot of 93. And the slider was mostly 88, and his slider was at 84 from the Busch readings. For reference, he's mostly been 94-95 with the fastball the last two years, with the slider being 89-90.

According to statcast, Heyward hit that 99 mph and it traveled 380 feet. He only hit 11 balls at least 99 mph and 380 feet last year.

I was going to say, non jokingly, that may have been one of Heyward's 5 or 10 best hits as a Cub. Looks like the stats may confirm that.

Second year mojo. Not surprising that he looks much more comfortable and confident. I really hope he is unbroken.
