These MLB.TV Edward Jones commercials don't persuade me to open a wealth management account with Edward Jones. At all.

We don't need to trade Happ. We can deal Candelario, because he's actually blocked. But, we'll be able to find Happ AB's. He doesn't have to contribute much this year, if he does, that's great. But Zobrist will start to age at some point, Happ will start to find 500 AB's within 2 years easily.

Plus, we have the D that allows us to take lesser guys much better anyway. We don't need to add an Archer type. Its kind of a waste of resources for us. Buy a guy next year and keep adding the Butler types. Our pitching will stay excellent.

Do you see the possibility that Zobrist doesn't finish his contract with the Cubs?

Not really. His skill set ages well, but he'll probably be fairly bad by year 4. Until then, injuries can still get Happ plenty of AB's.

Is anyone having issues streaming MLB TV? I'm going through my BluRay player and it keeps crashing.

PC version is running fine, and I'm using hotel Wi-Fi.

Happ's blocked too don't you think? Javy's probably going to be the everyday 2B next year and Zobrist will become the utility guy. Happ could take La Stella's spot but how much playing time could Happ hope to get unless he plays in the OF.

Happ is a better OF than 2B anyway.

From the start of June through the post-season last year, Jake failed to give us 6 innings in 11 of his 24 starts. He only had three starts during the 2015 regular season in which he didn't give us 6 innings, none after June 16. He's given us at least 6 in both of his first two starts, without throwing 100 pitches in either game.

There's going to be injuries. Happ can move into the utility role or into the everyday spot of whoever gets hurt. His versatility gives us even more options.

A lot of 91 from Arrieta today. On the one hand, that scares the hell out of me. On the other hand, he looks so much better than he did in the second-half of last year, and the results look really good, too. My prognosis: Take whatever he gives us this year (probably really good stuff), thank him for his great success in a Cubs uniform and stay the hell away from him this off-season.

Exactly how I feel.

And I'm pretty sure he could dial it up to 95 too if he wanted to, tbh.

Did anyone hear him on Waddle and Silvy the other day? They asked about his velocity and gave him an out asking if he's holding something back after a long postseason last year etc and his answer was something like "I don't really care what I'm throwing as long as I'm getting people out"

Didn't, but he told Bernstein and Goff that he feels like he could dial up more velo if he wanted

Also, after Almora proves to be a 5-win player this year, then there is no need for Jon Jay, and Heyward kinda takes over Jay's role, which allows more time for Happ/Bryant/Zobrist/whoever in the the outfield, which opens up more PAs for Happ, coming from wherever.

Ewww. Has everybody forgotten that javy is a terrible hitter against most pitchers? I love him but the hot playoffs and spectacular defensive highlights have made everyone nuts.

This shouldn't just be a given or expected, Javy has his warts and demons to overcome to be a clear cut starter.

The problem is his defense. His bat will be good; I have no doubt. But his range and arm... he is a liability in RF and just passable at 2B. How that ages is what concerns me.

Then you have Happ and Young knocking on the door, with Eloy just a bit behind. If Zobrist only had 2 years left it wouldn't matter much but that 4th year of the contract I think he should/will primarily warm the bench...

I'm with you in that we don't need to trade for that TORP that everybody has been dreaming on. This team is set up for GB/weak contact specialists to thrive, and we have had profound success with reclamation projects. So I am comfortable letting the rotation sort itself out. Most teams would dream to have Lester and Kyle as the 1-2, so the foundation is set, and we can stand to lose Jake. We have several guys that fit the Hendricks mold and I think at least 1 of those guys establishes himself as a MORP. Then you have Butler and Monty under control for a half decade. And I'm sure they'll keep grabbing a vet or two on 1 year deals. The pitching is going to be great.

The puzzle is the position player side. We won't have room for everybody.

David, that's the type of thinking that has the Cardinals where they are today. Anything Javy does at the plate is extra gravy, his glove however is game changing.
