Bryce Harper is a very polarizing player for non value related reasons.....my guess is a good majority of the twitter crowd who dont want Bryce are made up of people who have decided they dont like him.

 

I dont think this site has a lot of those types of people. This site is more of reason based debate(better than most of the internet anyway). So I can see why someone is surprised the discussion is going on here

There's also always a backlash against the truly great players, unless they win a bunch of championships to override it.

 

Because wanting Bryce Harper because he's really good at baseball is an easy opinion that any pleb can have, but it takes a true sophisticate to jock for Tommy La Stella.

Any pleb can appreciate Khalil Greene references, but I still think Jake Peavy is the superior Meph meme. He had math that proved that on average, trading for Jake Peavy would add two extra championships to the Cubs over five years.

to be fair, that 2008 cubs team won 97 games, looked like a lock for a deep playoff run, horsefeathers the bed, did nothing in the offseason and won 83 games the following year and was a non-factor for more than a half a decade after that.

 

now the team was so flawed that Peavy wouldn't have made much difference but it was a bust of an offseason and very disappointing.

 

of course it all set the stage for theo to come in so its fine

Hopefully when they say it’s completed and done it’s just the decision and not actual agreement. But us going with the FU offseason throwing all rules out the window and pissing MLB and other trams off would be fun. I doubt they could really punish us that harshly anyways.

IF it’s truthful I feel like that eliminates every team that isn’t the Cubs, Yankees and Nationals. Nationals because if there was a deal in place with dollars etc it would have to be the Nationals. Yankees because the interview was on YES network (not strong evidence but enough that I can’t eliminate them). Cubs because of the KB connection and all the signs/reports that point toward Chicago.
