Hey Chis Conte. You sucked as a Chicago Bear. That you got a silly pick 6 isn't some karma that Chicago no longer wanted your ass. You still play on a crappy team and you still suck.

Well, when an already polarizing guy goes ahead and publicly affirms his support for the lunatic that just got elected in a diverse locker-room, I'm not shocked that the locker room at large is done with the guy.

How many players on this current roster would you say are possible/probable pieces for the future given what you've seen?

Long

Whitehair

Howard

Hicks

Goldman

Freeman

Trevathan

Floyd

White?

Some of these guys might only be pieces for 3 or so years (like the FA guys) and some of them might need more time to be definite future pieces. Also there might be other guys with potential to be on this list that aren't yet. Also I know Floyd is a stretch but I like what I've seen so far and he has 1st round pedigree so I'm putting him on there.

I know he's having a down year, but I would put Alshon in there. Possibly Amos

I'm not putting Alshon on there because he's on the franchise tag and there doesn't seem to be a lot of positive signs for him being here long term. With regards to Amos, I liked him last year. Admittedly I've watched and followed the Bears as lightly as I ever have this year and I haven't heard much about him either way this year.

Edit: Also because of the PEDs

Kyle Long out for the season.

Jordan Howard may or may not have a minor or major Achilles or ankle injury.

In addition to the Jeffery suspension.

For those scoring at home, those are the 3 best players on an already bad offense.

alshon going to be cheap AF next year.

Yeah for someone else

Awesome. Is this what it felt like being a Browns fan 5 years ago? I mean, the way we are tanking, and it's across the board, it just doesn't feel like we have the ability to improve any day soon

This is good news. I mean, not for Alshon, but for the short and long term future of the Bears. The best thing that can happen to them this year is to lose every game. Losing Jeffrey makes that more likely. Losing Long makes that more likely. Cutler will be even worse than he's been without his best receiver (despite that best receiver hauling in a massive ONE touchdown) which will further solidify his departure.

The Browns basically have the #1 picked locked up, but if we can lose to the 9ers in a few weeks we'll have a really good shot at the #2 pick.

It's just insane how awful the Bears have been since 1994ish. 94-04 they were mostly terrible but like any non-Browns franchise, eventually every team will luck themselves into a decent run once they get enough draft picks and a quasi competent coach. So the Bears competing period netted them 3 playoff appearances over a 9 year period. Now they suck again and it looks like it might be another 6-7 years until they luck themselves into something that resembles a quality team. Yes I know in the NFL teams can turn it around quickly, but there seems to be total dysfunction throughout the organization. They haven't even started trying to find their QB and they don't have the right coach which are two pieces that are essential for any sort of positive momentum.

What a mess...when I was like 17-18 years old, I could still follow shitty sports teams on a day to day basis but not sure if I have the energy to follow a team that's building toward nothing (in contrast to the Cubs recent rebuild)

They've had very good teams during that period. It's not going to take 6-7 years to be good again. This isn't baseball.

I have no idea what you mean by "haven't even started trying to find their QB". It doesn't do you any good to get your QB and throw him to the wolves with a horsefeathers team. It's much better to have a very good offensive line and solid weapons and then add a QB. Dak Prescott wouldn't be doing dick without the team he lucked into.

Then you haven't been paying attention. Dude plays better with horsefeathers receivers, and I know numbers would bare that out without even looking it up.

With regards to 6-7 years thing, I just get a Browns vibe with this team. That viewpoint and thus my exaggerated timeline could change quickly but I don't trust the people in charge nor do i trust the people who are in charge of the people in charge to make the right moves to build a solid team.

With regards to QB, some teams have to try 3-4 different "QBs of the future" before they finally hit on one. Some teams get lucky and grab a Dak Prescott. But until we finally start auditioning QBs we are running in place with regards to future prospects. Obviously this will start this offseason, but its still frustrating that we haven't drafted a QB with starter potential since it became clear that Jay probably was not going to be the long term guy leading our next contender. Also the offensive line is not Cowboys caliber, but it's good enough when healthy to not derail a young QB's development.

heard something about them liking a qb from miami. i know nothing of him.

there was also some speculation about romo as a stop gap which would be kind of weird

Just posted this on another board.

I've watched a lot of Kaaya today. Nothing much changed in my opinion of him. But did confirm/solidify some things for me. I will say, this kid is really accurate when he can set his feet. Throwing into traffic, back shoulder, hitting a man in the zone. He hits his guy in stride when he has a clean pocket to step into. Doesn't quite have the arm to throw the deep out from the opposite hash, but not many do.

As for his ability under pressure, every QB struggles when under pressure. We've seen Tom Brady flustered by a strong Giants pass rush on the biggest stage a couple different times. So, I'm not super concerned about the fact that Kaaya isn't as accurate under pressure. My big concerned is he seems to either not be aware or not care that a pass rush is coming. He sometimes holds onto the ball a 1/2 second too long and takes an unnecessary hit. And not little hits either, he gets nailed and does little to brace or protect himself. He's been pretty healthy so far in college, but that won't happen at the next level if he takes hits like he has been. And the games I've seen, most of the pressure has been off the edge. The struggles could be magnified when he gets NFL interior DL coming up the middle after him.

One thing I will give him though, is I believe this could be coachable. He has to get that internal clock going in his head. If it's a 3-step drop, the ball needs to come out at 3, not 3 and a half. He has to work on his lateral footwork. He doesn't seem super immobile like say, a Ryan Mallett. But clearly he's not going to be a threat to scramble. I think a good QB coach/OC can help him out a lot. I know Miami isn't super well coached, so hopefully this is him playing on his natural instinct and ability. He probably needs to sit a year, but the bad news for the Bears is they don't have anyone for him to sit behind to outweigh the benefit of him getting experience.

6'3". 220lbs (good size), good not great arm, 3 year starter (JR), his mother played the crackhead in Friday who was the Felicia in the popular "Bye Felicia" meme that people use.
