yesterday the world series win began to sink in a little bit. today the way we won it is starting to sink in. the cubs winning the world series was always going to be amazing no matter how it happened, but we ended up getting it to happen in one of the most amazing ways possible. the 103 wins, the young controlled core, the likable bff players, the 9th inning comeback to beat even year bs, a series comeback (after we looked dead) to win the pennant at home against kershaw, mother [expletive] shwarber, a 3-1 world series comeback (!), and then a wild game 7 win. even at the end, the blown lead in the 8th only served to give us a wonderful contrast to what immediately followed.

Actually slightly down today relative to sports emotions. Starting to sink in that there are no more games after a month of intense games every night.

Its a bit of a comedown back to normal life after watching your sports dream achieved.

Yeah it was like the ULTIMATE sports dream for me.

I was telling my boss today, there is a small loss in a part of my identity after the win, because chasing this WS/hope etc. was such a strong part of my identity. AT least as a sports fan. I'll take the win, and I'll adjust, it's just the immediate aftermath of no longer having this to chase.

I guess next is a Badgers National Championship in football or basketball.

I have my sporting sights on OSU/Michigan assuming they can get past Iowa. Luckily I have a few weeks of downtime to recoup and regain the trust of my family that I'm not insane.

Someone is gonna die tonight

I was on the Riverwalk and had just passed under the Wabash bridge when I heard a big splash behind me. Saw the two guys flailing in the water and thought, "I'm going to see those idgets on YouTube tonight, aren't I?"

So who is selling 8 1/4" WS hats?

you're an ogre who doesn't deserve a hat

this is a top-3 post all-time. Holy horsefeathers.

This hat would be too small for me.

I don't wear hats.

Whoa. I thought I had a big head (7 3/4)

I may be misremembering my size, now that I look at hat sizes...

I'm definitely on the large side though.

Besides the fact that the Cubs winning it all was my ongoing ultimate sports dream for years now, this is also the first time I've seen one of my teams win a title when I was actually old enough to appreciate it. I saw the '85 Bears and '87 IU basketball team win but I was too young to appreciate it.

Watching the Blackhawks win 3 titles was pretty cool but I've always been more of a casual fan of hockey, never a diehard. It was cool when they won but I was never going to be too broken up if they lost.

This championship is the first time I get to fully appreciate a ring being won by one of my true favorite teams. And it feels fantastic.

Probably just a tad presumptuous.

Can anyone post a link to that awesome Cubs montage that aired today? Or to favorite clips of the rally?

This just has the Grant Park part of it but it's something. No montage though.

I watched the csn stream on FB today at work and am watching the wgn broadcast right now, and it's beyond terrible. Has one of these people actually followed the Cubs this year? Jesus Roan, we don't have to resign jake bc he's already signed. And then the women yelling indescriminant things plus giving us a play by play of them hugging each other? horsefeathers.

Now that the celebration is over, it is starting to sink in that the season is over and we will never see this exact group of players together again. This season was easily the highlight of my sports lifetime and I can only keep it alive with replays and video montages for so long. I would say there is a touch of sadness that this amazing moment has passed, similar to the feeling I used to get as a kid on Christmas night after all my presents had been opened. I still had all the memories and the toys to play with, but I knew it would be another year before I could experience that excitement again. What an amazing ride this has been.

i wont lie, im at the complete opposite spectrum of some of you. i get the bummer that the season is over and this team will never be the same team again but man, this is what we all wanted. just because the season is over doesn't mean the team is gone.

first off, im so happy to have a break from super stressful sports for awhile, because i won't have to deal with that until april (maybe) with the blackhawks. but for me, im just so happy and so proud that THIS was the team i got to watch do it. a perfect front office, one of the best managers in the game and an unbelievably likable group of guys. you dont always get that. sometimes your owner is a schmuck and you win anyways. sometimes you win in spite of your manager. sometimes a lot of the players are douchey or not the biggest fan favorites but they're really good so you deal.

for me, it doesn't make me sad that we may never have this perfect combination again, it makes me really happy that i was along for the ride the last few years and got to see this perfect team get put together. we'll always have this team, even when we have other world series teams down the road, because this is the team that started it all and finally did something that no other cubs fan ever saw happen at the time.

ill probably be 70 years old (lol im not going to live that long) and watch the cubs win their 32nd world series over the last 40 years with theo III and joe maddon III running the show and ill be like "hey grandkids this is great, but let me show you the cubs team that started this horsefeathers because they were the horsefeathering best" and then i'll put a weird chip into all of our skulls and we'll be in some weird VR world watching game 7 of the 2016 world series together.

Miggy is seriously just the best.

What did Miggy say? I missed it.

Hughes: He hit the most famous grand slam in Cubs history and he's going to say a few words, Miguel Montero!

*Montero dances to the stage*

Montero: WE ARE GOOD BOYS!

*Montero hops away, arms to the sky*

Man I hate to post this to take away from the feel good. And possibly someone already did so sorry if this isn't new

But Miggy was on Waddle and Silvy after the parade and complained both about his playing time in the playoffs and of Joe's decisions in game 6 or 7. Apparently Miggy was drunk and let all that slip.
