If no one else has said it, God finally intervened last night with the rain. What an epic series. What an epic playoff run. What an absolutely amazing team.

I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Do we realize how close Rajai Davis came to becoming the next great meme of Cubs futility? It would have been The Goat, Bartman, and Rajai Davis... Thank god this team didn't let that happen and from the sounds of things, thank god for 17 minute rain delays. Man I love this team, they turned the whole Cub culture on is ear and said screw that we're gonna win this thing.

Joe Maddon for brain cramping for 36 hours

Yeah, I think some of Joe's moves made sense but others were head scratchers. Joe's worst decision by far was pulling Kyle early. He should have left Kyle in to finish the 5th, then brought him out for the 6th and WAITED until there was a SERIOIUS threat. KYLE WAS FREAKING DEALING! Just imagine how that game could have gone if the horsefeathering ump would have rung Santana up in the 5th. Hendricks would have entered the 6th with a 6-1 lead after Rossy's HR and probably still would have been shutting them down. I might go so far to say Kyle could have finished that horsefeathering game on his own if given the chance. Maddon, love the guy, but he WAAAAAAYYYYY over thought the decision to bring in Lester that early. I would have rode the major league ERA leader as long as I could. Joe just seemed determined to follow some lame game plan to bridge Lester to Chapman at the first inkling of trouble. Joe could have easily waited for Lester in the 7th or eventhe 8th for that matter. If Kyle got in trouble, he could have had Monty come in and finish the inning and let Lester start off the next inning clean.

I'm not crying at my desk at work! You are!

Holy lord did the tears just start streaming down my face. Glad no one walked in here. Officially crying at my desk.

Well, Hendricks did get into some real trouble and even when he settled down the Indians were still making decent contact. It's Game 7 and you're determined to not wait too long to go to an asset like Lester, but because of Hendricks' 3rd inning they had to get Lester up and pitching, and you cant just keep having a guy perpetually warming up in a slooooowwwwwww game, especially a starter you're expecting to pitch multiple innings out of the bullpen on short rest.

Rajai Davis would have been an afterthought. While that 8th inning was a soul crushing wake up call, that 5th inning is what changed everything. And if it had, there'd be 2 men vilified:

-Sam Holbrook for his inability to call a strike down the middle.

-Joe Maddon for pulling Hendricks.

Now here's where it gets mind boggling: Had Maddon pulled Hendricks when he did for anyone but Jon Lester, then David Ross doesn't come in. If David Ross doesn't come in, Assuming that the Indians still score there 2 runs that inning, we could very well have lost 6-5.

Now I'm well aware that in every close game, there's going to be any number of factors that could have changed everything. And who's to say that if a didn't happen, that x, y, and z would have anyway. But anytime there's a close game like this, I can never stop thinking about the what ifs.

Remember Ross was the one who had to field the ball, which any other pitcher could have easily fielded but Lester, and threw the ball away enabling men on 2nd and 3rd. These guys scored on the wild pitch.

It would have been a tough play for any pitcher imo. Ross also played the wild pitch reallllly poorly. It was a weird bounce but taking it off the mask was the worst possible scenario.

I just spent an obscene amount at mlbshop.com. I can't wait to see what Scheels has in stock over the next few days. everyone I know is getting Cubs gear this year!

Heading over to Dick's on my lunch break. Trying to keep it to a sane amount.

I've been at work 20 min and have teared up (but managed to hold it together) at least twice so far.

Same. I think I'm more emotional today than I was last night. The reality is finally hitting me.

My son tried so hard to stay up and watch it with me, but his 8 year-old body just couldn't keep up. He asked Alexa this morning who won the game, screamed his head off, and then played "Go Cubs Go" on repeat. He's 8 and his view of the Cubs is that they are World Series champs. It will be years before he realizes just how lucky he is.

My 8.34520547 year old daughter isn't that big a fan, but she did wake me up to ask who won, then annoyed the horsefeathers out of her mother playing Go Cubs Go repeatedly

And Lester didn't even step off the mound there. It was nuts

I do think Maddon spazzed out on his Chapman usage the last two games and it almost cost him.

But he has been brilliant at everything else. His work this year was a master class in how to maximize a deep roster. He has been pulling Hendricks early all year and it led directly to Hendricks winning the ERA title. Using three catchers effectively was not easy and he nailed it right up through last night when all three got big hits.

From what I've seen so far, I'm deciding between the shirt with the marquee on it, or the one with the roster on the back.

It was definitely the type of shirt I wanted, but hopefully another manufacturer fixes this pronto.

Pretty sure that's photoshopped. That's what ramblingrimace does.

The shirt isn't bad. The hat is boring.
