The average ticket price to the WS in Chicago is $6600.

The seating capacity to Wrigley is 41,168

The Cubs will be grossing $272,368,800 PER GAME.

Does Cleveland get any of that?

I'm mainly excited with how high the ticket prices are, how that will help the Cubs with FA signing $$$ or new contracts. How much can they expect in a bump in spending?

That money goes to the people holding the tickets. Those are secondary market prices.

Face values on these seats for the WS range from $175-$450 per seat for season ticket holders and more than that with dynamic pricing for people who buy single games, but still not near what you're hearing about the secondary market.

I don't know, money is great and all, but I don't think I could trade a chance of being there for cash. This is the thing that all of us have wanted our whole lives, but suddenly money is better? Come on

So buy tickets

I am seriously looking at bleacher seats x2 for Game 5. Looking to stay in Tinley Park and take the Metra up. Hotels down there are $80-$90 a night. Any thoughts? I can go hang out at Wrigley for Game 4.

They certainly should be blowing by any of their projected revenue forecasts for this year, mostly because no reasonable and responsible forecasts should include hosting WS (or even playoff) games. The bump isn't coming from these crazy secondary market ticket prices though, they don't touch that money.

Seriously not having the money to get season tickets a few years ago when our number was called is really starting to chap my ass. I could buy all the filmmaking gear I need and/or want by selling tickets to one game.

What exactly is it that you think Stubhub is?

It looks like I can take Tinley Park to LaSalle and pick up the Red Line at Harold Washington. It's been years since I was last in Chicago. Anyone know if the times will work for leaving Wrigley that night? Am I looking at spending the middle of the night at Wrigley or taking a taxi back?

a bar?

I'm notable dumb when it comes to tickets. Through the years, if I ever bought tickets it was through cubs.com at the beginning of the year or at a ticket office at Target field or Safeco where I lived. I've never bought tickets through stubhub. Lesson in econ 101 I suppose.

I've got a room booked near the Rosemont blue line stop. Those run past 3 am so I'm not worried about getting out that way late. Hotels are relatively cheap around there as well.

Rosemont looks very doable. Now I have to decide on Game 4 or Game 5. Lackey probably for game 4 and Lester for 5.

Thanks for sharing. I'm guessing the complete lack of any talk about outdoor projection of the game means it's probably a pipe dream. I can't imagine MLB's copyright rules would allow for such a thing to happen. Which stinks, because I don't want to be stuck somewhere relying on my phone to stream the game at 3 pitches behind real time, when I'm in earshot of so many thousands of people.

I made it for game 6... But I'm heading to GA today and back to Germany on Friday. Wish I could make it back for games 3 and 4...

These postseason game times are no fun here in Europe :-(

I was going to sleep early then walking up at 3 in the morning (skipping the first 2-3 innings), then going to work. After they lost games 2 and three, and then stomping them in game four when I slept in because I was exhausted... I stopped getting up as early.

i don't think watch parties are unprecedented

the cubs had planned one at wrigley for the wild card game last year but it fell through for some reason

After reading nearly 300,000 people stormed Wrigleyville for the NLCS game, I'm very unoptimistic about getting to a spot in Wrigleyville for any of the games unless I want to get there early afternoon, or even late morning.

I would hope they would make a special exception for this. Or the city of Chicago would pony up the dough to make it happen elsewhere in the city. There are way too many parks in the city not to take advantage of that opportunity, especially to disperse the foot traffic across the city in this case. The amphitheater at Millennium Park comes to mind.

An MLB franchise planning one at an MLB park sounds much more realistic* to me than off site elsewhere in the city, when the game is happening at Wrigley.

* I'm admittedly unknowledgeable and irrationally pessimistic in these matters.
