Post your own predictions, or prediction columns.

http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/gallery/mlb-baseball-playoffs-postseason-wild-card-predictions-preview-cubs-dodgers-red-sox-100316

Predicts that the Cubs will take 5 games to beat the Giants, with Lester doing his thing and winning game 5. Also that Heyward will be the hot hitter vs the Dodgers (ok sure). And the Cubs win the WS.

Jayson Stark won't pick the Cubs...ever.

No doubt plenty more columns are forthcoming.

All of this is fun, but who know!

I'll take a stab at It

Orioles win due to a great middle relief appearance from Bundy and a go ahead HR by Machado in the 8th.

Mets score 2 in the first to beat Bumgarner/Giants 2-1

Thor goes 8innings of shut out ball, familia gives up a solo shot to Crawford before shutting the door.

Dodgers beat Nats in 4

Cubs beat Mets in 4

Red Sox beat tribe in 5

Orioles beat Rangers in 4

And I stop there....

Everyone better pick the Cubs to win it all. Except Kyle because I could totally see Kyle picking the Dodgers or something just to be contrarian.

Orioles over Blue Jays 7-5

Giants over Mets 4-2

Orioles over Rangers 3-2

Red Sox over Indians 3-1

Cubs over Giants 3-1

Dodgers over Nats 3-2

Red Sox over Orioles 4-1

Cubs over Dodgers 4-2

Cubs over Red Sox 4-1, winning game 5 at Wrigley

Orioles are my "postseason is a crapshoot/wild card winner that advances through DS" team. Everything else is fairly chalk.

Rangers over Orioles 3-1

Red Sox over Indians 3-2

Cubs over Giants 3-1

Dodgers over Nationals 3-2

Rangers over Red Sox 4-3

Cubs over Dodgers 4-2

Cubs over Rangers 4-0 (I only have tickets to games 3 & 4 so I want to see the Cubs win it all in person. That is why I am going with a sweep.)

1. Beware of the No. 1 seed: Only three times in the past 25 postseasons has the team with sole possession of the best record in baseball won the World Series

It's like the No. 1 team has about a 1 in 8 shot of winning the title or something. Never would have guessed that.

"Obviously, the pick is the Cubs in the National League," quipped one NL exec. "So I like the Dodgers."

"Too much hype about the Cubs," said another.

"Out of principle, I won't pick them," said an AL exec.

God these people are morons

You're taking these picks way too seriously.

Their shitty joke logic is as good as any.

Yeah, if they were saying something about the Cubs not being as good as their record or some crap like that, it would be far more offensive.

everyone knows its a weighted crapshoot and some writers don't want to submit the 3000th prediction that has the best team winning the world series. I will eat up all the predictions articles because I am starving for the NLDS to start, but I don't take anything from them.

If you found a bunch of quotes from people saying that the Cubs aren't the best team in baseball, that's slightly different.

Edit: and of course banedon just said the same thing 3 mins ago

AL Rep: Blue Jays

NL Rep: Cubs

Cubs over Jays obviously.

Cubs win and fulfill my prediction in 2008 that this year would be the year.

Go Cubs Go!!!

Making it a "principle" to not pick the Cubs because they're ~~~The Cubs~~~ annoys me, I wont apologize for that

If it's because "they're cursed so they'll lose", ok...valid thing to be annoyed by. If it's "because they're the hyped team" or "I don't wanna pick the best record team" or whatever, I can understand that.

Given the odds involved and the nature of the playoffs, it's almost as good as any other reason to not pick them.

I hope the Cubs win like 6 of the next 8 or something ridiculous like that and become the biggest super villians in sports history

we have the ability to be either the 90's yankees or the 90's indians (except without losing our players as they hit FA)

Not picking the best team because they're the best team seems like an implicit admission that this is all silly guesses at the result of coinflips. Harmless fun, but pointless fun too if you have that attitude towards it.

That's pretty much how I've always taken it.

it's actually kind of sad how often i fantasize about this considering I'm not nine-years-old.

3 people have the Cubs losing the DS.

3 more people have the Cubs losing in the CS.

Finally 10 more have them losing in the WS.

so 18 have the Cubs winning the WS. 16 don't.

EDIT: Jesse Rogers has the Rangers winning.

I'm guessing he knows the Cubs postseason roster already and 3AM isn't on it.

Cubs raise :flythew: with me in attendance for Game 5 of the World Series. Other than that. Don't care.

Edit: meaning the clinching W.

that team with the best record rarely wins narrative is so dumb, sports things happen when they happen except when they don't.

Are the Cubs going to win the World Series maybe/maybe not but it's going to have nothing to do with their regular season record. They have the same chance as 5 other teams, and slightly better than 4 others.

I feel like they are going to '07/'08 Cubs and fall on their faces right away, or they are just going to march through and lay waste to everybody.
