I know their pitching staff is horsefeathers, but a totaled Michael Wacha was really their best option today? Sheesh.

A Cards loss today or Mets win ensures we'd only see Thor once in the DS, so that'd be cool.

Jerko just hit a go ahead HR on a pitch that was at least 3" outside. The pitcher, Rivero, gave him a golf clap as he rounded the bases it was so dumb.

Rivero had Gyorko struck out one of the previous pitches but, you know, umpires.

My God, the Pirates are [expletive] worthless.

I don't want the Cardinals anywhere near the playoffs.

Elimination in the one game playoff would be the best though.

i mean at this point, i'd rather face them than the giants, not that it matters. the three team are all pretty mediocre. the main thing for me is avoiding thor and madbum (and maybe cueto) as much as possible. the cardinals have none of those.

and tiebreaker games are always fun. having 3 one game playoffs to watch this week would be cool.

Posted in the Cardinal thread but it fits more here.

horsefeathers St. Louis. If the choice is "only" two such games or 3 with at least one involving them, give me two.

I'll gladly take knocking those pathetic peons out of the playoffs every year Bulls Knicks style.

Has there been any discussion from the Giants on who would start a tiebreaker game on Monday? Their options seem to be Cueto on 3 days rest or Samardzija(or Moore) on regular rest. If they aren't considering Cueto then I don't need that tiebreaker to happen.

Cueto said he was available to pitch out of the pen tomorrow if necessary, but I'm not sure they would start him on short rest Monday.

Not sure it matters - Cueto would still start on normal rest in two games in the NLDS (Game 2 on Saturday, Game 5 on Thursday).

It's admittedly flimsy, and my overall preference is the Cardinals not making the playoffs, but more chances for Cueto to aggravate that injury and him making 3 starts in 9 days might have a cumulative effect.

Yankees beat the Orioles, keeping a 4 way tie for both AL WC spots possible. Needs the Orioles losing tomorrow, Seattle winning both their games, and the Jays and Tigers each splitting their final 2.

Tigers have 3 to go currently. Make up on Monday if necessary.

Damn. If Boston could have just handled the Jays things could have been super interesting.

Now the Tigers are on life support, the Mariners are about to eliminate themselves and a Jays win tomorrow clinches it regardless.

That said if we do get a Tigers win and Jays loss tomorrow the stage is set for the 5 cities in 5 days thing for Detroit
