Core starters who have been performing well all season are exempt. Prime candidates include Heyward, Montero, Soler, Coghlan, La Stella, Ross, etc. Even though he's done well, I guess a rookie like Edwards shutting guys down in key post season situations could qualify. Who do you think steps up?

He's performed well, but I think at some point in the playoffs, Lackey is going to make us like him. As for unsung guys, I'm really leaning towards Coghlan.

Put me down for Contreras. I see a big home run late in a game in which the Cubs are trailing, where he may not have even started. Yes, he can be overzealous, but I can only imagine how exciting it'd be to see him fist pumping and whooping it up rounding the bases.

We're gonna be down 2 with runners on first and 2nd. Bottom of the 9th. Game 7. NLCS. It was a hard fought battle and as a result most of the bench is expended. The opposing team has their hard throwing right handed closer going. He's been shut down all year long. This is the one to get us to the World Series. The only bat options on the bench are pitchers, and I don't think Jon Lester is up for playing hero. Or Joe could call upon... the secret weapon. Joe steps out of the dugout and looks to the top of the scoreboard and points, as if he's calling his shot. Then out of nowhere "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" begins to play.

"BAH GAWD THAT'S KYLE SCHWARBER'S MUSIC, LEN!", J.D. will exclaim. The cameras will all turn to what Joe is pointing at, and then from the top of the scoreboard, descending like an angel from heaven, Kyle Schwarber will zipline down like a god damn champion...

First pitch dong, NLCS over, first world series berth since 1945. In fact he hit the ball so far MLB decided to break the rules and reward him with a grand slam for hitting the longest home run in postseason history, something the opposing manager was like "No, that's fair, he deserves it".

After the pitcher wets himself, he serves up a first pitch dong, NLCS over, first world series berth since 1945. In fact he hit the ball so far MLB decided to break the rules and reward him with a grand slam for hitting the longest home run in postseason history, something the opposing manager was like "No, that's fair, he deserves it".

I hate hate hate hate hate Lackey. He's a jackassical meathead with soooooooo many white teeth and has the look of someone who wants to make america great again.

But, I also have a feeling that he will do something stellar in the post season. So much so that I'll exclaim to my TV set, John Lackey you magnificent bastard!!!!!

I'll lean towards a big game 6 World Series victory that sends us to an epic game 7 in Fenway park. . . . . .and we win!!!!!

Szczur

He'll probably swipe a bag late and make a diving catch or something and be the hero. Meanwhile, KB will hit 4 HRs and OPS like 1.000 and get .2 seconds of time on the highlight video again.

I got nothing, mostly because I have a strong feeling it's Bryzzo or bust for us. I also have a string feeling that Bryzzo will come through when it matters most.

I strangely have confidence Heyward is going to be amazing in the playoffs

I have a feeling he'll perform much better than he has during the season, but it won't take much to accomplish that. Still I could see him having some key hits to go along with stellar defense.

My playoff MVP money is on Lester.

I'll take Dexter for the simple reason that I don't think anyone has mentioned him yet.

But, really, Schwarbs.
