On a positive note, I think he's thrown multiple good sliders for the first time since May here after Braun's homer.

Well this should stop the talk of starting Jake in games 1 or 2 "just because he's Jake." Until he stops walking guys, he's the #3.

 

Does the difference veteen 2 and 3 matter much? You are making the same number of starts either way.

to what JD is talking about, has Jake even been appreciably better with montero catching?

 

That would be difficult to suss out considering that Montero exclusively caught the early good-Jake starts.

 

But not his no-hitter, haha.

If you're down 0-1 in a series it matters a lot more, I'd think.

I'm not even sure he's the #3 right now. Hammel is the only one I confidently start him over.

lackey has been solid but jake has been clearly better

 

jeez what would you be saying about arrieta if he got tagged around like lackey did yesterday giving up hard hit balls left and right

In the second half, Montero has caught Jake 5 times: 33.2 IP, 19 H, 8 ER, 28/9 K/BB, 2 HR

 

Only start with more than 2 runs given up was the game at the Cell.
