We'll never know for sure, but it was pretty strongly rumored the Cubs' board had Appel first too.

 

I remember hearing that, but it seems like they say they have a pitcher at #1 every year just to mess with people and keep them from realizing that drafting pitchers is stupid.

This is fascinating. Obviously, much of these park numbers are due to the home pitching staff in question (lots of credit to the Cubs staff there) but wow, Safeco allowing the most home runs? Remember when it almost ruined Adrian Beltre's career? So strange. Lots of parks are playing very differently in the past few years.
