Happy Friday!

Cubs come in hot off of a sweep of the Brewers. Rocks have won the last two, but have lost 7 of 10. They are not a good team. We will stomp them with our long dongs.

Today is National soft Ice Cream Day

Does Hendricks seem like he would be a decent Coors pitcher? More of a ground ball pitcher, relies on location, doesn't throw the curve ball too often, throws a lot of sinkers.

Seems like the stupid air there would effect him just like it would anyone else.

I just remember reading somewhere awhile ago that the Rockies actively look for sinkerball pitchers to fit their environment. Guessing because there isn't as much movement on it compared to a curve or even a slider/2 seamer. That said, a sinker that doesn't sink as much especially for a pitcher who isn't acclimated to pitching at Coors will lead to weak contact ground balls being turned into hard hit fly balls so who knows.

I don't think that worked, I think they have shifted to acquiring pitchers who throw really hard.

First game at Coors! Off work at 2 pm. That makes this a likely dangerous day for Badger. Sec 118 Row 12. :yahoo:

I wonder where the team stays? I want to stalk Bryzzo...

Any other year I'd be like "oh, Hendricks in Coors worries me" but not this year. Dude is rock solid, gonna shut those fools down.

I hope some of the more dongless can get a little healthier here. Zobrist hasn't had one in a while, Heyward is perpetually dongless, get in that thin air and do some work boys.

Curveball = really bad

Slider and cutter = not as bad as the rest

Everything else = equally horrible, but not so much as a curve

Really, nothing works. It is a miserable, horrible place for pitchers. I think this quote best illustrates things.

The Rockies have played there for decades now. And they've spent decades trying to formulate the secret sauce to pitching in Coors. And they never can figure it out. So they keep changing the sauce. Nothing will ever work. There is no answer. There is no sauce. That place is where pitching goes to die. And you should never feel safe with any pitcher going to pitch in that park.

The thin air doesn't make routine grounders to second carry further.

It sucks, Denver is a fine MLB market, but I think they will always having trouble building a consistent winner because of this issue. There is nothing you can do to fix it. There are no areas in Denver you can build a ballpark in low elevation, building a dome would only slightly lessen the effects of the altitude.

pretty sure a good FO could put together a consistent winner there (or anywhere). theo would figure that horsefeathers out.

you build the ballpark thousands of feet underground.

problem solved.

And the weather here is typically so fantastic, they wouldn't want to build a dome. The average fan doesn't give two fucks about spin rate, and pitch movement, even if they want the Rockies to win. They go to the game to enjoy the game and Denver is remarkable for the outdoors.

Heyward sitting against a righty for the second day in a row.........

Anderson is a lefty...

Whoops, I had Chase Anderson on my mind when I googled.

Then that makes more sense. That said Soler in RF with that spacious OF will be interesting to say the least.
