I don't wanna draw conclusions during a series with the Brewers, but it sure does seem like the Cubs are getting back to their "take a horsefeathers ton of pitches" philosophy from the early season.

Man I hope we don't get No Command Jake in the playoffs. I would presume that regardless he will get out of it with weak contact but it will still make me a lot more nervous watching the games.

I love Willson. It's still ridiculous to me that he randomly popped up and became part of the core.

Can you do an article on him?

I should blame myself for thinking that 2015 2nd half Jake Arrieta was what we'd get from here on out, forever. Even Struggling-With-Control Arrieta is better than 95% of the pitchers in the National League, but I still find myself frustrated and mournful. This is my personal failing. I apologize, but can do nothing about it.

EDIT: Also following the pitchtrax on Gameday and Arrieta is not getting very many favors on his zone when he's close

Just checking in and saw Arrieta gave up a home run and I went to watch it in hopes that it was just a bad pitch and not a bad call by Contreras and sure enough it looks like it was a pitch that Arrieta missed his spot on and not the result of a bad decision by Willson, so it makes me happy that besides that hiccup of an inning, it would seem Contreras is doing well behind the plate with our ace on the mound.

Yeah home runs are prone to happen when you put them belt high over the middle of the plate.

Yeah its hard to draw conclusions as you said. The Cubs 'slumped' to a .330-335 OBP team in June and July (assuming you can draw a conclusion that higher OBP = more pitches seen per AB). During that period they disproportionately played a lot of good teams and faced a lot of good starters and the schedule was road heavy. Now they've spent almost 6 whole weeks at home and have played some bad teams.

They were also forced to start players like Albert Almora because of injury, players who do not take many pitches.
