EXACTLY like them(not in "style"). I was on the ESPN boards, and then here during those times...some of the very same types thought neither one of them could do no wrong their first few years based on "intangibles" and reputation/past records etc as well.. Maddon was a complete hack again tonight, and got his ass bailed out by dumb luck. lol @ managing yourself out of position players by the end of the 10th inning and NEEDING to put a pitcher in LF AGAIN.

You are both completely wrong and way out of your depth in the discussion here.

Keep telling yourself that.

How them Dusty wristbands holding up..? 8-)

Continue demonstrating you have no concept of logic and reality, then.

It's becoming clear that Maddon is apparently operating on a different plane of thinking than you. One that involves logic.

I think my favorite is a lesser known game. It was on my bday in 2003 and Z hit a three run bomb off of Wade Miller to beat them(we were down 2-0 late). Not quite as big of a comeback, but pretty improbable.

Didn't we have a decent sized comeback vs the cards in 03?

Came back from down 6-0 (on a JD Drew grand slam off of Felix Sanchez?) to win. This may have been the front end of a DH with the Alfonseca belly bump.

ETA: The DH was the day before. Woody Williams came on in relief, and wound up losing 2 games in that series.

I'm actually thinking of a 5-0 comeback from earlier in the year. I forgot about them coming back from 6 in the 5 game series.

Holy horsefeathers, Rain Man, how do you remember that?

Honestly, I think part of the reason that Maddon is so aggressive with his substitutions is that he'd rather lose the game in the 11th or 12th than have the game go 19 innings and potentially mess up his bullpen/rotation for a week or two.

I can dig it.

Should go through the early part of this game thread for [expletive] and giggles.

But then you'd have to remember that Brian Matusz once put on a Cubs jersey.

Cubs have never lost a game started by Matusz. Can't say that about Arrieta or Hendricks.

Speaking of Carl's Jr, let's take a moment to remember his outing.

O'Malley: K swinging

Martin: K swinging

Cano: K swinging

Cruz: K swinging

Seager: 3-1 groundout

Gutierrez: K looking

1 thru 6 in the Mariner order and he hardly needed a defense behind him. Dirty, dirty, dirty stuff.

Can you imagine a Cardinals fan watching that game?

What about the one who used to post those creepy videos? Does that guy still exist? Someone has to remember who I'm talking about.

Elias

I think I found him on twitter or fbook last year.

i want to dedicate my life to that final play

I mean, you can re-name yourself again since the 2013 Blackhawks are dead to you.

"Lester's Rosin Bath"?

what makes you think the 2013 hawks are dead to me?

Just a joke since you'd rather dedicate your life to that last play than what your username references.

I woke up this morning, checked the box from the game and came straight to this thread because I knew it was going to be an interesting read. :-D

i went to gateway redbirds and there were only 2 posts about the game. they were both from the same guy, uninterrupted, made three and a half hours apart:

Of course the Cubs are losing

The Mariners are awful

I haven't gotten to go to a lot of Cubs games at Wrigley, since I used to live near St Louis, but is it common to see about half a row at a Cubs v Non-Cardinals game decked out in Cards gear? There were about 8 guys near my section like that and would boo everything the Cubs did.

Seems like a recipe for an ass-kicking. At least the entire section of Mariners fans in front of me had reason to be there.

I remember the Astros comeback in '89 and the Rockies in '08. This has to be third I think though, that I remember in my lifetime.

The aram game vs the brewers in 07 was a 5 run comeback. Seems in most years good teams have a kick ass comeback

The '84 "Sandberg Game" where Costas is announcing Willie Mcgee as the player of the game as Ryno takes Sutter deep (twice!!) with the credits rolling is untouchable for me.
