welcome to gam thread i am tre-

just kidding this team is horsefeathering garbage and doesn't deserve a proper thread. don't watch this game. go do anything else. even if they win, it won't mean anything. you'll still think all the same thoughts and have all the same doubts. we are well beyond a single game recovery.

so go do something with your friends and loved ones. eat nachos in the street. play catch with your kid at the park. go for a drive in the country with the windows down at dusk and smell the fresh air. whatever you can think of that you don't spend enough time doing, TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT YOU CAN DO IT.

you can check the score of the game when you think it's probably over. if the cubs happen to win, you'll have a bonus moment of happiness. when you (inevitably) see that they have lost, you'll be sad for a second and then happy you did something fun instead of wasting your time on them. you only have so many days left. fewer than you'd probably guess. how many times are you going to get to spend time with your parent/sibling/friend again, really? everyone is so busy, but part of the reason you're so busy is because you waste time on the cubs. don't do that tonight. they aren't worth it right now. hopefully they'll be worth it again soon, and you'll be fully able to carve time out of your schedule (aka the ever dwindling remainder of your life) to watch them then.

make them earn your time first, though. you have so very little to waste.

i was going to request that this thread be locked, but i think it'd be better if we all declared what we will do tonight in an effort to live our lives to the fullest instead of watching the loser cubs. i'll go first.

i know a pretty girl and i think she likes me. i'm going to see if she'll go on a walk in the woods with me. dinner at a bar that serves nachos to follow.

Good advice. I'm sure to spend time with my loved ones, as they will most likely be bedside, as I am in the hospital clinging to life, due to Drano poisoning.

if you have drano poisoning and not drano instantaneous blissdeath, you definitely did not follow my instructions correctly

I'm probably going to go see that awful movie with Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick because I'm a sad old perv and because I have a friend facing life-threatening surgery and I won't want to just sit waiting for news.

So the Cubs will have a few hours Friday to get ready for the Pirates in their final series of the first half. The Cubs could’ve scheduled a day game for the makeup against the Braves, but the business operations department decided to schedule it at night for television ratings.

Thus, the Cubs took a 1:30 a.m. bus to O'Hare for the flight to Pittsburgh and would arrive just before sunrise, ensuring Friday’s starter, Jake Arrieta, would get only a few hours of sleep before his start.

That's lame. Thanks business ops

I am definitely not going to spend the night annoyed that Arrieta's name is misspelled in this thread title

i figured he just didn't think it was deserved

Makes me feel slightly better....

1) Cubs are have a RD that is 51 runs better than the next best team.

2) The "no such thing as luck" Cubs are still 59-26 which would be on pace for 112-50

I'm going to play some catch with my daughter, probably watch the end of Return of the Jedi that we started the other night, and drink some delicious beers. Perhaps Jake will pull his head out of his ass (H/T to Ski) and pitch a gem this evening, as the club sorely needs it.

I'm going to start re-watching Rectify

I advised my parents to start watching it and they love it. so my mom has been calling me to figure out anything they don't instantly understand...

it's a win-win because it's an awesome show and it'll save me time and frustration to remember what details her and my dad are lacking.

it would actually be really fun if the only posters in this thread once the game starts are Vinestal and Rondon Fan.

But I'm sick with mono (who the eff gets mono at 34?) so I'm sure I'll be around. I can't kiss anyone for like 5 more weeks so no point to leave the house.
